I'm curious whether I should pursue this now or sometime in the future? Is it used a lot in the workplace?

Yeah, it worth 4 something and depend on your point of view.

Thin network is very usual to many non-IT, regular company. Like financial institute, trading, design company and etc....

Thin client computing has 'made' my career in healthcare, where legacy apps are the norm.

Understanding this, now had propelled me into the legal arena too, where 'Citrix' is also used alot!

If you plan to work in consulting Citrix is a pretty big seller right now. Also it doesn't hurt to be diversified.
