| I used the Syngress book plus Boson's self test citrix software - Both were more then adequate to pass exam 218 - not many suprises as all objectives were covered except for any references to Winframe versions and Metaframe history such as what features were available with which particular versions. Some tips: Known Secure ICA encryption, default TCP port for ICA protocol, load balancing across a WAN (Multiple server farms) Citrix server admin utility and various tabs for configuration, speedscreen2 benefits, launched and embeded application differences, TAPI and serial server connections for clients, client set up disks and files needed (3 of them all .ini files)...etc Just follow the objectives for the exam. 40 questions/60 minutes - finished in about 20 minutes with a 93 - not bad

Moving on to Cisco now...

Most of my knowledge was gained through the Syngress book - However, at work we are just implememnting several more Metaframe servers into a server farm setup - prior to this we had only one Metaframe server in a mixed NT/Novell environment. In my opinion, for this particular exam, don't worryabout extensive hands on - just stick to the objectives and you will pass - It is a very fair exam and compared to Cisco and some of the Novell elective master CNE exams it is simple - no tricks and the questions are also straight forward compared to the notorious Cisco CCNA 2.0 exam. Basically before I sat the exam I set up the TS at work and installed Metaframe with the secure ICA option pack - I played around with the admin utilities especially Server Admin and published/installed several apps plus created the client install disks for various MS clients. It's all straight forward and most tasks are done via wizards. So use the book and study with the objectives in mind and you should do well on the exam.

U are MCNE too. I almost done my studying on CCA and plan for MCNE.
Where do u get your MCNE from? I cannot find and good study guide or training source for MCNE courses?
Do u know where can I get the student study guide from the Novell class?

yeah I completed my MCNE in Netware 5 before the CCA. For my 3 elective exams after my CNE I picked: TCP/IP Transport - I used self test software for this module - it was a tricky exam and adaptive/ 15 questions - first time around I failed by one point! - This was using the Exam Essentials - the second time around I used STS and scored 694 or something - well above passing. Then I took Fund. of Internetworking - EE was adequate for self testing however, none of the questions were similiar except a few on ABR's, transit and stub areas with routers and routing protocols - know various types of bridges well from source routing to transparent - I found studying for the CCNA very helpful for this exam as much of the material applied. For my elective, I took Bordermanager 3.5 - non adaptive 60 questions or so - fixed length - my main testing was done with EE again and this was very helpful - all the objectives and questions were quite similiar. In all three tests I used the notes at cramsession and some old Novell press 4.11 material. I hope this helps and good luck with your MCNE

| Well I guess you guys are studying hard for this test huh.. this test is very good and I like to help people out, when I took the test it was easy because I scored almost a perfect score but hey, all I could say that every test except Cisco are easy to take. atleast you guys have books for CCA, I had to use some hands on and what I got from training.

How did you get the syngress book I look for it and it said it has even been publish yet. Do you know if the CCA book by McGraw or the Win 2000/NT then client solution by New Rider is good or not.

Like most of the people who reviewed this book at amazon I agree - questions in the book are not good but the book alone covers all the material you need to ace the exam. Use Boson's citrix test module for better questions. Good Luck |
