Hi, does anyone here know of any good books that cover the OS exam? Ive noticed and read a few detailed books on hardware which I used to pass the core exam, but I havent come across anything on the OS side of things.

Mike Meyers' A+ All in One covers both. It's in it's fourth edition, so the many errors from the 3rd edition should be corrected. http://www.bookpool.com/.x/qawnrsvs4m/sm/0072222743

From post on this board I read that the
All-in-one is not too good on the OS side but is good on the hardware side.
It was not covering the NT side of the exam very well for example.

I have been hearing good things about this book: A+ Certification DOS/Windows (Accelerated A+ Certification Study Guide)by Llc Total Seminars

I don't know if they're still around on bookshelves, but I used A+ Certification Test Prep Kit (set of 2 books). They are published by IDG and are white with blue and silver. They also come with BeachFront Quizzer software which is great. These two little books I found to be the best reference for even after the exam. What I really liked about them was the way they were written. The author is Ted Chandler.

Thanks for the helpful info, I went and bought Meyers "A+ passport". I heard a lot of good things about it. If it turns out to be less than what I thought then ill probably try the Sybex book, thanks guys.

Dagger:

That book is so out of date. It was published in 1998 and covers the old Dos/Windows exam. I don't know who you've been hearing great things about it from, but its no one who's passed the exam in the past year!

Hi - I co-authored the passport book that you just bought. If you have any questions or concerns or just need some help, please feel free to contact me.

Great, well I do have a couple of questions. If I read this book cover to cover, do you think this and a few practice exams will prepare me well enough for the OS exam? Also, I passed the Hardware exam reading the Meyers All in One book mainly, but I noticed some errors. Is the OS material in volume 3 reliable? I bought volume 3 just before volume 4 came out, and I really cant afford to also buy the 4th edition. Your help is greatly appreciated believe me

Hi izz1:

If you read the book cover to cover and learn and understand the material and do lots of practice tests it is enough to pass the exam. However, I never recommend using only one book for a certification. I think the passport book coupled with the All-In-One book is an unbeatable combination.

As per the All-In-One book, if you go to www.totalseminars.com, and click on Support there are links to the errata for the All-In-One books third edition.

Hope this helps.

You are a gem, thank you very much. I actually emailed from the total seminar site asking for the fixes to the errors in the book, and the lady emailed me back some wierd answer that had nothing to do with what I asked, thanks again.

The combination of All in One A+ and A+ passport is powerful. I used those books to get the A+ cert,
