The company I am working for now, does not plan on upgrading to Win2k for atleast another year, in fact the only pc with Win2k running on it right now is my own machine, and it's running Win2k Pro. I am currently a MCSE in NT 4.0, but looking for what I would need to use to learn/pass the upgrade exam, my plan is to setup a test lab of 2-3 machines 1 with Win2k Pro, 1 with Win2K Server, and one with Win NT4 and try and learn as much as possible while at the same time using a study guide or cd-rom series for training, my company will not pay for the training class, unless I want to shell it out of my own pocket, but I don't have that kind of cash laying around. So I am looking now for some advice or recommendations on what to use to get the best prepared for the upgrade exam...

Thanks,
Loghar

First, let me say that you may use your MCSE benefits to access MCP magazine online. In recent months, articles in the publication have critiqued various study materials. I am an MCSE and MCP + I and have great success with the following: Exam Cram (for the quick and dirty information), Cramsessions obtained from http://www.brainbuzz.com, Transcenders http://www.transcender.com for good test simulations and explanations, Sybex (although it is lengthy and contains some errata),the selftest materials from http://www.jrksoftware.com and the Troytec study guides at:http://www.troytec.com. I have a home test lab of 3 machines running WinPro, Advanced Server, and NT 4.0. In the past, I have made audio tapes for the commute time between home and work. Time is precious, consequently, I found a site that sells pre-recorded study material and questions at a reasonable price. The link is:http://audiowiz.com. Sometimes you'll experience difficulty going directly to the site and must do a search. I used this technique throughout the NT 4.0 track and it supplemented the hands-on and reading material, while reinforcing good time management. In addition, I have the resource kit for each of the operating systems and the MOC loaned to me by my employer. My employer did not purchase the MOC. It was donated by a former employee who was given a copy by a classmate at a Microsoft training course. There are a host of other resources on the Web offering freebies of all flavors targeted at MCSE preparation. Good luck and I hope this helps!
