Ideas for good study material for 70-240?
|

| Hello, I'm looking for ideas for what study material to get for 70-240. I used the Sybex books for my NT4 exams (I scored over 900 on all of them) I thought they were OK. I used Sams for Exchange 5.5 (which I write tomorrow) and didn't like it. BUt I heard Sybex for Exch 5.5 was good. I really liked the Exam Cram books for NT4, but I don't know if there is one for 240.
Since 70-240 is "free" my current employeer is willing to pay for a decent book. I'm looking for a 70-240 only book, not a general 4-core book. Any ideas? Also, since I wasn't expecting them to pay, I've also earmarked some money. Is Troytech for 70-240 worth it?
I plan on writing 70-240 near the end of December (before xmas) so I've got almost 2 months. But I want to start ASAP.
Any ideas on what study books to get would be most helpful. (I do peek at braindumps, but not until I've actually studied and tried some sample tests). BUt I want a decent book. I'm no fan of the MS Press books (very dry) and the "recomended" book on this site is a 4-core book, but at only 110 pages it might be decent. Any other ideas?
I don't think my boss will pay for exam dumps or MCPdatabank, etc (I might) but a good book they probably would.
Anyway, thanks for any ideas, and wish me luck on my final NT4-track exam tomorrow.
...Cheers!

Sybex, eh? How big/long of a book is it? Will I be able to read it and do some practice tests in 2 months (my exam is schedualed for 20th of December). Does it have a CD with questions?
As I mentioned orignally, I did use Sybex for NT, and heard Sybex was THE book for Exch 5.5 but I found the NT books had good info, but weren't "exam focused". I plan on buying a book this weekend.
I will look for the Sybex book and see. Anyone else, any suggestions?

(PS, pass Exch 5.5 w/ 960. I'm an MCSE now) | |

I looked at the Troytech 70-240, it seems like not a bad price, $99USD, and they claim people who use their material have a 70% pass rate compared to MS's 18% average, but they don't have samples of what they offer on their page.
Is it just test questions? Or more "informational" -- like an electronic ExamCram book (I liked those). Have you used Troytec? Do you think they're worth it?
With only a two months until T-Day (test-day) I need something good without too much fluff, but I don't want just test questions.
I looked at one bookstore yesterday but all they had were large books (one 1500 pages!). If the Troytec is short, sweet and to the point I think I may go for that. I do work with Win2K so I don't need baby steps, just info for what is on the exam. Since they're just .PDFs I can put off buying it until the weekend and not lose any study time.
Thanks,

That's the feeling I've not gotten. A friend lent me his 70-210 (Pro) Troytec and while it has info in it, it seems to be a lot of just exam questions (with just the answer, no multichoice). It has less actual text (i.e. non-questions) than the BrainBuzz CramSessions.
But I'm hoping that by using the CramSessions, Troytec or something similar (that is, short) for Pro, Server and most of Network Infra. I'll do Ok on that. I think I'll pick up the ExamCram book for AD.
I like the ExamCram books and was annoyed at not finding one for 70-240, just the 4 core. But I'm hoping that I'll be able to pass the easy three with just some quick-reference type stuff since I probably won't have time to read 4 books in 7 weeks.
I mean Pro+Server = Wks+Server (and I did well on those, plus I use them every day) and I'm hoping that Network Infra. is Net Ess + TCP/IP. It's mainly the AD stuff that is new to me.
Would others who have taken 70-240 agree that more time should be spent on the 70-217 AD portion of the test?

I think you have to spend time on 70-216 & 70-217. |
