| There will be some coverage of strategies for migratinging from NT to 2000 on this exam. The main theme to grasp is that due to the limitations of the directory function of NT, larger organizations had to use several, even many domains under NT. The typical model involves putting all of the user accounts in one 'master' domain. Then regional or divisional 'resource' domains containing computers, file and print resources, etc, would 'trust' the master domain. In practice, the user would log into the master domain on a computer that is a member of one of the trusting resource domains and access resources via the fact that their user or group from the master domain is placed in a local group that has access in the resource domain.
Upgrade scenarios on the exam typically involve upgrading the master account domain and collapsing the resource domains. |
