| How soon are you planning to take this test???
I'm following your lead and plan to start in on "Chapter 9" first thing Monday morning.
What book does everyone think is the best to review for 219? I have the complete MS Press library of books and some others, but was curious what everyone thought was the best to prepare for the case study format?

| Well, I am in the same boat. I am probably going to schedule this exam for 8/23. I read the MS Press Kit and glanced over Chapter 9 for review. Now I am in the testing stage. Took a practice one today and scored near 60%. Might be good enough for the real exam, but I have a week to pull that score up to 85% or better. Let me know if I can help with anything, or if you run across anything to share. Thanks | |

| What are you using for practice tests RUSH?? I have Transcender, but after you go through them once or twice I would think that they would lose their value since there are so few questions, so I'm open to suggestions for an alternate test engine or test sites.
Did you check the MSPress website for the book errata? I got to go do that still.

Sorry, just checked my book, it is NOT the MS Press Kit. I ended up buying the Sybex book for this exam. It is the only non MS Press book I have for the complete MCSE track (210,215,216,217,218,224) Actually I have developed my own questions that I use. I downloaded MS sample case studies and just expanded on those. It may not be as good as Transcender, but it does jog my brain. I make up questions from the books and randomly flash them on the screen. Not a perfect method, but it works for me.

| Hopefully within the next few weeks but that depends upon the revision. Chapter 9 is superb for detailing the construction of an Active Directory network as it details what you should use and why (Invaluable) And, I've heard that Asmodeus' thread in this forum (219) entitled "Some points they should help u pass" is very instructive for the exam
Pavlov, the format is four scenario's out of a possible six with a maximum of twelve question on each scenario. This explains why the transcender appears to have so few questions.
Did you make notes for 217? If so read these notes along with your revision material for this exam. 219 is supposed to take the elements of 217 and apply them from a design point of view.
Hope this helps all of us really! It should be an interesting couple of weeks ahead.

| Thanks Lexy. I have some excellent notes from 217 since I took that test while I was at Boot Camp and the instructor was great at teaching the concepts to us. I have Chapter 9 bookmarked and will read that on Monday - today it's all about ME!
I have also taken and printed the post from Asmodeus - great outline to follow to the objectives.
Thanks all - time to find my cooler - I'm going to the San Diego Wild Animal Park today!
So is anybody here using the 219 Training Kit by MS for this? What is the book of choice, aside from Chapter 9?

| Sure you will pass this with easy....
Hold on my notes and it will be no problem I think so.
U asked me in a other thread if I`m braking.
From generelly certhunt. No I passed 4 exams in 2 month and now currently walking on ccna.
From the 70-219 exam. Yes I have took a brake twice. But I spent it in the lobby where the testingcenter guys could see me and so if something goes wrong they can diskuss this with vue or ms.
Better you ask them before how to break, they will tell you. They said to me ms had planed a brak in within the test and thats the reason why it is so long time to finish him.

| Pav:
All I used was my notes from 217, chapter 9, and a few practice tests I downloaded. I'm sorry I don't remember the links but they were passed on to me by jeff_black. Maybe you can ask him. They were good for getting the feel of the case studies. The exam is really pretty easy. Know your dns - when to use AD integrated, primary, and secondary zones. Know your FSMO roles and which are forest level and which are domain level. Also, know when to create a new domain and when to create a new forest. Also, remember if you have differing password/security policies it will require creating more than one domain.
Hope this helps. | |

| I am taking this on Sept. 10. I passed the upgrade test in Dec. of last year. I have waited to take this because of not being focused. bought a house moved, bought a new car. Now I am focused. I took the 1560b course which also had a separate course on AD. I have the study guide from cramsession. I have also read over Chap. 9. I have the Transcenders to give me the feel of the tests. I have been following this forum. Hopefully I will pass this on the 10th. It will be hard to take it though with all my fingers and toes crossed. I will post my thoughts on it after it is over, whethrer or not I pass. | |

| I used free trial exams from Techskills.com and uCertify.com. Those were ample preparation for the test format and Chapter 9 for study. | |

Thank's for posting those. For the life of me, I couldn't remember where you got those Seems I download so many different ones for different exams, I lose track.

| One of the things I have been doing since 216 is to create a folder for each new exam I undertake and then make sub folders for the various types of files such as favorites, docs, txt, saved web pages, practice exams...etc. This way I can burn a CD-RW of the folder and sync between home and work and have a copy wherever I go. | |

Yeah, I know I should be a little more organized. I do have a folder named study guides that has those demos along with a bunch others. Without re-installing some of them I'm not sure what they are by looking at their cryptic names. Shame on me
| jeff_j_black 2002-08-21, 4:08 pm |
| Well I know what you mean there. Couldn't they name them more appropriately? |
