| Well I took my last and final exam today. The 70-219. It took me an hour and 40 minutes to complete.
Four case studies, and for whoever took this exam. Fabrikam case, really got me annoyed, 14 questions on this case study and I was getting frustrated with some of their terminologies.
Now I'm MCSE 2000...
In closing, I passed the exam. Now I don't know what to do. Maybe I'll study C++, or go into SQL thoroughly.
Any suggestions? | |

| Congrats on the pass! You beat me to it. I'm taking 219 this Friday for my MCSE/2000. I have Proxy 2.0 & Exchange 5.5 from my NT4 MCSE that's suppose to carry over according to MS.
I'd go for the SQL myself.
|
| awesome job! You must be pumped
How about some Cisco certs, or linux?

| Thank you all for the response
Honestly Freak Linux is in my eye-site. I was planning on learning the language of SQL.
What approach can I take on Lixux. What books, what exams?
|
| If you're into SQL, it is also a great choice. You could become an MCDBA, which is highly in demand these days...
As for Linux, there was a cook book by Mark Minasi for MS engineers who want to get into linux. I think it was called the secret decoder ring or something like that. Randy, who created the Linux+ for Freaks! study guide for www.mcsefreakpress.com posted about it on my foru, a while back...

| Thanks Jeff. SQL is a good part to explore and grow upon. Also Linux may grow effortlessly even more.
Tomorrow I'm going to read and compare some books on Linux. Maybe the bible book or the All-In-One will do.
Is linux though just one exam from CompTia?
I'll do research on that one. I do like their software.
RedHat 7.3 is released.
onced again Thanks all | |

Yes I do believe that the Linux+ is only one test. Or you can go for the RHCE if you feel like Superman today

Feel like Superman? I wish, but I don't believe any man can stand up to the role that Christopher Reeve played of such a character. LOL!
If Linux is one exam, then I shall do some research on it. I just finished downloading RedHat 7.3 3 discs, and YellowDog Linux 1 disc. To play with both
Thanks Zara for the remark.
Now I just have to figure where all the drivers are for Linux if not given, Also By the end of June I may test myself with Linux.
Thanks Freak | |

| You're welcome! I think that that Linux+ test looks like fun. I wanted to take it, but I am going to wait a little while first... | |

| Linux+ = David
RHCE = Goliath | |

Since my first name is David, I guess I should change my nickname from freak to Linux+ then

| Hmmm?
Thinking: Maybe Linux+ hasn't had breakfast yet???
| jeff_j_black 2002-05-29, 1:13 pm |
| Or 'Linux+ Freak'! But for sure RHCE is a woppin' task! I think the exam costs $1000+ US and takes several hours, with hands on lab. | |
| cross36 2002-05-29, 1:31 pm |
| I'll save that $1000 till after my sister's wedding. I'll go and conquer Linux+ first.
Being david doesn't hurt for a bit, he eventually triumphed above all

| I think their both valid exam platforms. CompTIA is 'vendor neutral', but probably has a lot of Red Hat info on it. I agree with the Linux slant and plan to get a cert there myself, after CCNA. I've worked with several distros of Linux and you really can't knock it. Instead of charging a client a lot of money and spending it on licenses, why not put it towards your fees? | |

| Well done Cris.
This is my next test, then I'm going on to SQL as well. just going to do the admin as an elective. If I do well enough I may go back for programming later.
I wish you success in whichever direction you choose. |
