| Okay, so who is here for the 219, let's get it rolling! I see Iceman , Fizz85, mkoenig. Who else has this in their short-term future? (IE: Taking it next!) I just got started last week, the same day that I passed the 217.
I almost feel like a book and a month may be overkill. But the book I have (Osborne/Syngress) has a lot of new stuff on business models, IT organization, TCO, etc. I figure odds are pretty good that I could take the exam and pass right now, but it seems that there would be a lot of ideas and concepts that I would miss out on if I did that. It would seem that it just comes down to the question of passing the exam vs. learning and practicing the concepts. Where are you all at?

| I am currently searching for a good book. I hope to knock out this test quickly (within 30-45 days). I just have to get off my butt and start. I agree with you the exam may not be that hard but there are alot of new ideas and concepts that need to be understood before I can honestly say that I am ready.
Just gotta find the time.

| Have you looked at the MS Training Kit for the 219 exam? That's the book I have for it. Not that I'm anywhere near even beginning to study for 219 yet. Still trying to motivate myself to get through 210 | |
| jeff_j_black 2002-03-13, 10:12 pm |
| Haven't seen the MS Press, but I've heard that it is good, better than any of their other offerings. I have used ExamCram for 210,215,216 and 217. Plus alot of lab work and web research. Obviously Technet and the MS KB, plus alot of practice tests. | |
| radup70 2002-03-13, 11:30 pm |
| it's what I'm using + Trancender. I plan to take this exam on Friday. | |

| Like jblack I have been mainly using examcram for the last 4 exams, plus transcenders&MOC.
However this time round I heard exam cram is weak so I have bought sybex for 219 plus I can get access to 219 transcenders.
I reckon 4weeks study should cover it,unless I feel I can do it under that.
Taking a week off so I won't be starting until late March.
I wouldn't underestimate this exam even though you have passed 217...this exam is totally different from the last 4.

| Good luck radup70, let us know how it goes.
Yeah, iceman2001 after 216 and 217, I'm not in any frame of mind to sell my remaining 3 short! This week I will be re-installing and setting up my lab, so that I'll have a routed network with two domains, two dcs, a win2k router, and a couple of 9x clients just for fun! After that I'm gonna wade through the MS step by step series for items that pertain to AD. I'm also going to crossference the Cramsession study guide to the MS KB articles it lists. I probably won,t read the entire text book that I bought, just go through the chapters on analysis and implementation. Then I'll start practice testing on anything I can get my hands on for 217 and 219! Let's say first week of April for the test.

| jeff_j_black, 217 isn't that bad, tho MOC is enough. I studied 2 weeks on that (less than 2 hours a day) | |
| radup70 2002-03-14, 11:28 am |
| I agree with you, nothing replace hands on experience!
good for you to have such a testing environment!

| I plan on taking this in about a month. I am using the MOC and our company provides Smart Force. I passed the upgrade exam by using the Exam Cram and Transcenders, so I will uses some of those resources plus the Win2K reskit. I also have a lab to play around in. Active Directory reminds so much reminds me so much of Novell, NDS that I find the subject easy. As for the test, I think it will be a rough one. | |

| I have not taken a test since passing the Accelerated back in November, so I am feeling a bit rusty and forgot a lot of AD stuff. Anyway, studying sybex and MS Press preparedness review. Clearing out the cobwebs! I need to set the test date, that's the ponly way I ever force myself to study hard! | |
| iceman2001 2002-03-22, 2:57 pm |
| Just back from a weeks break in NYC,starting over the weekend on 70-219.
I'm just gonna use sybex as my main resource, plus any other resources ye guys might want to recommend??

| Yo! Ice, have you tried any practice exams for 219? I have chucked the thick book and am going through the MS objectives and Course Syllabus. I'm gonna bet that spending a month or more prepping for this one is not neccessary. | |
| iceman2001 2002-03-24, 10:59 am |
| Hey Jeff,
I haven't tried any practice questions,I did the core transcenders and found them helpful.
I'm gonna try and get my hands on 70-219 transcenders.
Apparently the prep time for 70-219 shouldn't be too long if you have passed 70-217.I should have a clearer picture of things as I get my teeth into 70-219.

| AD Infrastructure
The link above is to MS Technet Reskit. This one chapter pretty clearly explains all of the exam objectives. I have spent the last two weeks going through various web resources and this is the most consise.

| After the pleasure of "Sorry, but thanks for playing" on the 240, I'm through the 210, 215 and 217. I've decided to hold off on 216 and go for the 219, since I've been focused on AD. My electives are still good .... so .... 3 down 2 to go. Probably looking at taking the 219 in about 3-4 weeks.
I've found a great source for books is ye old publick library. Free beats paying any day. Unfortunately, the library didn't have any books on 219! So, I've got the Syngress book on order from Amazon (used for 11.50!).

| Hi all,
Right...I have completed the core 4 so far and the past 2 months i have started working 6 days a week and doing a network engineering diploma part-time at night.
I feel so tired and not so motivated to get into the books for this. I have been using New Riders so far. I booked in my exam to take in one month.
Good luck jeff_j_black tell us how it goes |
