Took the 219 last Friday and passed, and thank God for that because I wasn't so confident after half way through.

I found this exam on equal par with 216, not just because of content but the sheer length of it. Yep 5.5 hours is allocated for this one, and during the first 2 hours I was fine (Didn't really have a problem with the content to be honest..I HAD studied for a full 2 weeks for this one). But then my concentration started to waiver...lets face it. It is hard to maintain a high level of concentration for that long, and the exam room wasn't take quiet either which p*ssed me off.

I had 5 LOOOOONNGGG case studies and 50 something questions. The exam was timed with each section too, which helped for time budgeting I guess, but it meant that kicking XXX on 1 case study didn't contribute to extra time for the others. Each case study was timed and when you finish it, the timer resets for the next one.

No score either : PASS/FAIL

I used only the Sybex book written by Gary King and Rob Donavos (The names are from memory, you know who I mean). Excellenttly written for this exam, I recommend it. They also wrote the one for 220 which is equally as good.

For exam sims, I used a 2 year old Transcenders. Excellent!!

Also lost yet another girlfriend!

People say that this one is the easiest out of the design exams - I sat Security a month ago, and that was easier! MS have changed them I believe.
I finished in 4 hours, and my brain was a mess.

Study hard for this one, know DNS inside out!!!
And know when to create domains OR forests OR OU's, the case studies test this extensively and several times I didn't know how to design it until I read and re-read the case study.

And be ready for 5.5 hours!

Next up Exchange 2000, and that's that for my MCSE! Will sit that in about 2 weeks!

I couldn't agree more, what a headache this turned out to be!

Very long, very complex and if you don't know what the Active Directory components are used for then prepare for a re-sit.

I had 64 questions and five long scenarios. Some people have posted that this is a push over; I would have to disagree as it is a very intense exam.

219 gave me my MCSE but I've been working on 224 along side 219 because of the active directory integration with exchange 2000.

I thought it made sense to study both as they are related via the active directory.

Congratulations on passing an exam that demands respect, and earns it if you ask me.

I would put more than two weeks into Exchange 2000 because of the amount of knowledge you will need for the exam.

Congratulations on the pass! Glad to see you nearing the end. I have a suggestion! Upon acquiring the MCSE 2K, take a break, find a good woman, and get married before you begin the next certification track! Best of luck with Exchange!

Looks like I got lucky and passed this exam just under the gun. The exam I had wasn't that difficult, except for the one with the Sky Resorts.

I do believe now I had a new exam when I took the 221 though, because I was surprised at the end when all I got was a pass, and I was expecting a score on it. I do remember the test administrator being surprised that I was finished already and telling me that I had some ungodly amount of time remaining. I remember thinking at the time that she was just mistaken, because it took me longer to take the 221 exam than it did the 219. But hey, I wasn't paying attention to the time alotted or the passing score. I never did. I always prepared to make the highest score I could. But so for, I'm the only one I know of that has had a pass/fail exam on the 221, and other people in this forum have taken this exam after I did and have received a score.

Way to go Johnny. You are on a roll knocking out exams left and right

quyda I'd be prepared for what Johnny and Lexy had. Your test center may not have updated the details to give out to you yet -

Thanks you guys... Lexy I will probably take up the advice about Exchange, I have now tentitivly booked it for 29th Nov. I don't want to become complacent and bull rush into the last one and get a big fat fail!!

Zaraspook I think I am going to follow your advice about finding myself a wife before I to my next cert.

Would be nice to finish MCSE before December cos then I am taking 7 weeks holiday to go home (New Zealand) for Christmas via Australia and US.

quyda it is possible your testing center hasn't updated you on the latest information like Pavlov says...but it is always possible that Microsoft haven't yet rolled out the new exams to Asia. I would prepare for the worst tho'..., and GOOD LUCK!!

219 is really tough. very complex case descriptions. I didn't have enough time to answer all the questions, but I passed. Although passed, I think more reading and practice would help understand the system construction.
