| Well I just got back from y 217 exam and passed. What a relief.
Was a total of 53 questions.
I'll try and remember what it was composed of.
DNS - know this like the back of your hand. AD intergrated, primary, secondary zones.
I really don't remember how many questions, but it was a lot.
RIS - around 5-8 questions on this. prestaging clients, security settings on RIS images, and clients not connecting to RIS servers and placement.
GPO - Lots of you want this to happen and do this what are the results.
GPO to deploy apps around 5 questions on this.
All in all it was a very good exam. I'd have to say it really put to test my knowledge. Month and half of studying really paid off.
Oh.. yea a few questions (maybe 3 or so) on compacting AD and how to do this.
Not a question using drag and drop, but a lot of exhibits. | |

| congrats, could you tell us what you used to study for this exam,
and what is this exam on a scale 1 to 10 (10 being the hardest)

Sybex: Win2k Directory Servieces Admin 217 2nd edition
ExamCram: 217 book
Windows 2000 MCSE study system M$press (this is a core book that covers 210, 215, 216, and 217 all in one.)
Plus my own lab.
2 DCs, 1 member server, 2 workstations.
Scale to 1-10.. hmmmm 7 maybe 8.
I'd say 8 or higher but before I took the exam today I read Sybex and ExamCram chapters on DNS again so that was really fresh in my head. | |

| Also, This may sound retarded..but
My exam was scheduled for 2:30pm. I woke up this morning around 7:30 to review. I have transcender ( i didn't use it this time around except this morning) so I decided to give it ago, since I hadn't tested myself on it for 217. The trancender I have is way out dated also. I got it last summer, anyways I took the exam A and failed it by like 150 points. Anyways I almost postponed the exam, but was like f*** it, so I reviewed my notes and read up on DNS, and passed.
Thing is I'm a big believer in mind set and confidence. (this is the retarded part) before I take the exams I always dress up (slacks, button down shirt, tie etc.) and before taking the exam I tell myself over and over that I will pass and I know the answers. Sounds gay but its completely a mind set. If you walk in confident it helps.. | |
