This one is done and dusted!!
Sat and passed on the first go. Not that hard but still had to know your stuff.
Lots of DNS and very complex.
Make Group Policy your friend.
Once you know AD and the components and how they interop with each other you can problem solve quite easily.
Moc + White papers + Labs, Network simulation = MCP = MCSE. Simple?

Look out 70-219!!!

Thanks guys!

My plan from here is to do the 219, 218, 220 in that order. The 218 looks to have a lot of content but nothing too scary.
The 219 is needed while 217 is still fresh in my mind and the 220 looks pretty mean.
Jeff, you are a man that has been there at the front line on most of these. Can you suggest another order of attack exams.
I have my study methods down pat its just time now.

And before i forget, thanks to all the contributers to these forums. The comments and the links are priceless.

Skip 218 and go for more meat? That's the only suggestion for plan of action I have. I took all of the designs for my core design and electives and I regret not taking something like Exchange, ISA or SQL as one or two electives. Since my MCSE I have spent the last 12 months taking CCNA, betas 214, 290, 291 and preparing for Exchange.

I still want to take the exam for either Exchange 2000 or 2003 (I'm totally ready for 2000, but don't have the real need to spend the $$$ on it, I would rather re-tool and do 2003.

I just think if you are going for MCSE, don't bother with MCSA, unless you need it for some points at work or something. Don't take it the wrong way. I had a choice to take 218, but with the cores behind me at that point it just did not seem like where I was going.

Have a great time with 219!!!

Thanks for the thoughts Jeff.
I must admit that i am taking the 218 for convenience as the college i work at offers the course to staff at 45% discount and it is very attractive.
I also would like to get my teeth into Exchange.
Worth a bit more thought i reckon.
Thanks again for your input.

Pass on the 218 if you are already that far along. I took it because then I didn't have to take 216, 217 and had something to help me get in the field sooner. Just my 2c.

i took 218 because i heard it was a good test of troubleshooting ability, and it helps to unite your study efforts in all the areas. I looked at it like a milestone on the MCSE road.

Jeff, I hear what you're saying. I don't think that the 218 should count as an elective for MCSE, i think it should be a title bestowed after one finishes the core. I feel that the study for that exam was more of a macro look at the core exams.
