| I connect from client, to share on forest root dc. I open computer management\shared folders on dc, and view the user connected and file connected to.
I close session, and close open file from dc under admin account. client machine is operating under domain user account.
Domain User still has access to share after disconnecting and closing file.
why? | |

| also noticed I cant create remote share from dc. I created the folder on client1 under network administrator account. On the domain controller, in the create shared folder wizard 'Folder to Share:' box I type \\computer_name\folder_name and get error 'The Folder \\C1\remote share is invalid' | |

| I think the folder to share dialogue is looking for the physical location: 'c:\share' | |

I tried that Jeff, but it seems determined to apply to the local machine. the computer name field is greyed out looking like an inherited field yet the book says it should be configurable from this wizard.

| Do you have Administrative rights on the local machine? | |

thats an interesting point. I was logged on as enterprise admin, so I logged off to try get back on as local admin, and I see that I have no option for local machine logon. the domain controller I am working from is the forest root.

| You have to have 'local admin' rights on the computer that has the folders that you are trying to share out. Enterprise Admin account can be tricky, in that you have to make sure it has membership in the Domain Admins group for the Domain that you are trying to administer. Administrators group should have Domain Admins as a member and so on... | |

| group I was actually logged on as member of administrators group.
Policy is configured to allow local logon in computer configuration policies.
I have this machine configured as a CA, I wonder if that has something to do with it. The other machines in the domain all allow local logon.
I stopped the CA and tried, but still no option for local logon. |
