Maybe I'm hyperventilating due to scores I'm receiving on the Readiness Review, etc, where if you get only 3 out 4 selction correct on a Select All The Right Answers type question the whole question is wrong.

I've never taken an MCSE exam so this is probably a known question, and I'm starting at 217 because there is a possible job available if I pass this.

On the REAL exam, is partial credit given if you have some of the right answers on a multi-selection question? For instance, does only 3 correct choices when there are 4 mean the whole thing is wrong or that you get 75% credit for the question (assuming I also didn't not check off any wrong answers) ?

Thanks!

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but M$ doesn't give partial credit. So if one of those 3 is wrong then the whole question is wrong. Sorry.

Are you sure about that? I was told that even though they do not advertise that fact that they DO give partial credit as long as you don't pick an incorrect answer along with them.

If I'm correct, the "partial credit" for a partly correct answer is for those questions wherein they state that each answer is a solution--i.e, A would be a correct choice and D would be a correct choice. If you choose one of the correct choices, you get credit for that correct answer. If you have a question that states each answer is PART of the solution, then you have to get them all or you get no credit. 210, 215, and 217 generally say "select X number of answers" so you at least know how many they want. 216 is very evil because they don't tell you how many correct answers are in the group offered, many of the questions are "pick all that apply," and nearly 40% of the test is comprised of dual answer questions.

Well, thats news to me. If its not advertised then how do any of us really know? :shurg:

It is probably not advertised because MS doesn't want people to "rely" on the partial credit to pass the exam. I wish I could remember where I heard/read the partial credit bit, but I cannot. Vaguely, I think there was something mentioned in the scoring of the Transcender I was studying for the 216 that lead me to believe it. But, again, I'm not exactly sure on that either. Bottom line is ---study, study, study and hopefully you won't have to rely on partial credit to pass. (although it really is a bummer that you don't get feedback to know how well you actually did!)

I was informed that you don't get partial credit. The questions are weighted according to difficulty. Questions that require more than one answer will score more points.

There are many rumors about those "partial credits". However, no one knows how exactly MS scores the questions. Don't bother with this - just know your material
me? I dunno...

It has been my experience, that if you get enough partial credits, you will fail.
