| Every time I think I am ready to take this exam I see a question or two that pop up and I go "Oh, sh%# !!!"... Securtiy templates and "secedit" are the latest.
Can someone give me their idea of what objectives will probably get the most points and emphasis so I can get off this roller coaster :-)
Thanks! | |

| One quick point: what material are you using to study if you've never come across secedit before? i am not trying to be mean or a j@ck@$$, just want to make sure that you have the appropriate resources at your disposal... | |

| Well, it's not a Resource issue, I have come across secdit it is that the 70-217 subject matter is voluminous:
MCSE Premium Training Kit for 70-217 from Microsoft (which includes the Readiness Review)
Meyer's passport for 70-217
ExamCram for 70-217 which gave me more than a few "a-ha" s...
I guess the question is, if I'm going to scrimp on subject matter that I feel top drawer with, what do I not worry about beyond the basics?
Thanks! | |

| You can't be ready if questions like those catch you out.
Don't quote me. I'm no better myself.

| After 3 months of semi-steady study, and having strong Iplanet experience and medium Win2K experience, this is just throwing me for a loop. | |

| As you finish going through whatever study materials you have at your disposal and start looking at going for the test, check out the original exam topics from Microsoft:
Preparation Guide for Exam 70-217
From there, go through How-To's and Step-By-Step guides on Technet, to brush up on topics you feel deficient in. Best of luck!

| I had a couple security template questions on my exam taken a few days ago. I also had a lot of group policies-so know them well. Know your permissions needed on group policies to be able to filter users, etc. Know how to compress the AD database by putting in Directory Services Restore Mode. Can't think of it all now. | |
