Does anyone have a link that details the metadata clean up? This includes the process etc. and details what happens when performing the clean up.

Using ntdsutil you can perform a metadata clean up that removes redundant Active Directory object from the directory after servers that have been removed but I just want to find out more.

Thanks in advance.

Try this link...

Jump to the section: Managing Orphaned Metadata

Hope this helps you out.

I've done it once to eliminate reference to an orphaned domain. Get your typing fingers ready!!!

To both of you.

Pav you are an angel. Jeff, way to go buddy! thanks for the links, great detail and way to much information there!

The reason for the explanation of the ntdsutil was in case anyone remarked that it is something I should already know about!

Thanks again both.
