Hi
This is my first post to this forum.
I have started preparing for MCSE exams last week, after passing CCNA and I have no idea about the MS exams.
I have a general Q's:
1) Is the exams like Cisco exams in marks, what’s the pass mark?
2) Are there any simulators in the exams?
3) How many Qs and what is the time they give to you?
4) Any one knows any way to get Win 2000 server for trial, regarding I decided to buy Sybex books, and not MS press that come with Win 2000 server trial version?

Any info will be greatly appreciated
Thank you,

Hi. Well done on the CCNA!! That is after my MCSE but it looks pretty heavy!
As for MCSE, GENERALLY SPEAKING - the pass marks for the 'first 2' exams (Profesional / Server) are typically 540/1000 and 640/1000 respectively. These pass grades can vary a little bit and it depands what exam format you are doing - Adaptive or whatever. The rest of the exams there is no 'pass' mark that is generally advertised (Someone else might know different?) but are just a pass/fail. No score in the result.
I have only done 2 exams to date but looking at posts here, there are not many simulations at all...mostly multi choice and Case study type questions.
How many questions depends on the exam... between 45-60 mostly (give or take) and allowed time once again 2-4 hours depends on exam.
As for MS Server... You can download a trial version from the MS site. Go - http://www.microsoft.com/servers/ev...ial/default.asp -

Well.... I think I've answered all your questions!!

Have fun!

None in the exams that I've run across so for, but you never know. Sybex sell a good simulator though: Sybex W2k Simulator Demo Version. Bookpool.com has the best price on it that I could find.
