I already put a post in another forum, but I figured I'd post it here as well just to make sure you don't miss this info...

The MCSE requirements at http://www.microsoft.com/traincert/...equirements.asp have changed.

Before you needed all of 215, 216 and 217 and additionally one of 219, 220, 221 or 226.

Now you need any two out of 215, 216 and 217. You also need any two out of 219, 220, 221 and 226.

So, if you already have 215 and 216, passing 217 will not bring you any closer to MCSE status...

I don't see any change. Assuming we are talking 2K, you need 210, 215, 216, 217, one design, and 2 electives.

My perception is that it offers the choice if you want to go for the XP.net. I think that if you have been studying for the four core exams 70-210, 215, 216 and 217 there is no change. I was talking to a few training providers this morning and they are still carrying on with the 2000 route. They said that they will be introducing the xp courses soon.

MS had made a change to the requirements page, and as of last night, it was still there stating Required: 210, 215, either 216 or 217, 2 design electives and 2 genral electives. (I left out the XP and .NET exam choices because I didn't want to type them all out.)

This morning the requirements page was set back to the 210,215,216,217, one design and 2 electives requirement.

It was either a mistake, or they got slammed with nasty emails, etc... and decided to change it back. Who knows

I just know I would have been ticked off if I only had the design exam left to take and then only to find out, suprise!! now you have to take another one.

Here was the discussion of it in the 216 forum. http://www.examnotes.net/forums/sho...10&pagenumber=1

I don't think it was simply a mistake. Microsoft must have strict procedures for how their external websites are updated, and I think any change they make must pass by a good few eyes before it makes it to the web.

I don't think it was just one individual's decision. It can't have been. There must be a real reason behind the change.

If anything, I think MSPress shouted loudly enough for them to change it back - they're the only one I can think of who would have enough interest to put some pressure...

Maybe we'll see them do change again in the future, but hopefully in a smarter way. A transition period would be good. Notifying MSPress should also be part of the change...

It had to have been a mistake. How can you be an MCSE without knowing both IT and AD administration? The Core 4 setup makes sense as it is. To give the option of 216 or 217 would be absurd!!

Dunno, it depends on the reasoning behind it. There's some value in more specialization, and those design exams sure look interesting...
