Q43. You are designing the Active Directory for your company network. How do you avoid a potential NetBIOS naming conflict when creating domain names for your Windows 2000 network?

A. Use domain names that have different names within the first 8 characters for the domains.

B. Use domain names that have different names within the first 15 characters for the domains.

C. Use domain names that have different names within the first 25 characters for the domains.

D. Use domain names that have different names within the first 256 characters for the domains.

And the answer is ....

Correct Answers: B

Windows 2000 generates the NetBIOS name of a domain from the first 15 characters of the DNS host name as NetBIOS names have a 15 character limit.
