Slaughtered like a pig 2

| No..it's just a joke.
Yes... MS gave me the 'PASS'.
Realised that there's the existence of 'easy' & 'hard' papers. Which in the first take, was incredibly 'brutal'-while going home, for a moment, I thought like quitting because of the 'ruthlessness' of those question. For the second one, it was a 'Puppy' instead-I even have time to 'pad' on the 'puppy', and to ponder over. For those of you who is planing to take the test, my advice is don't depend too much 'luck' on getting on the 'Puppy' papers, be prepared for the 'Beast' set of quesiton.
Finally I passed this exam on my 2nd attempt. I'm going on with the 219, hoping to squeeze one more paper with the grade 'PASS' in my collection to the road to MCSE at the end of this year . I like to thanks you guys/ladies for the vaulable encouragement and consolations when I stumbled in my first attempt. I also like to thanks those critics although hurts, but meant well nonetheless. For those who are curious and would like to know what are the materials I read, these are the humble followings:
MCSE Windows 2000 Directory Services Infrasture- New RIDERS. Damir Bersinic, Rob Scrimger.
This being the 'primer' or 'basics', don't go for the exam after you read through it It's no-where close to the real thing
TechNet- Sep-By-Step Guide to a Common Infrastructure for Windows 2000 Server Deployment, Understanding the group policy feature set, Windows 2000 DNS White Paper, Managing DNS Server Configurations & Security,Managing Security with Windows 2000 Group Policy.Troubleshooting Group Policy in Windows 2000.
Technet helps in providing a 'graphical' overview of the integrations of these components. It's a must read.
Transcender.
Yes, a valuable meter to test how much you've actually know about how the system works.
Home Lab System include : 2 Windows 2000 Server as Domain controllers, 1 Windows 2000 workstation & I Windows 98SE, a 8 port Hub.
By far, I think the 217 is not an easy exam to pass. It's something like 'Alice in the Wonderland', where you'll have to deal with a big vareity of 'characters', that will require your atttention. When they come, they really come in a 'gang', if you're not familar with them, they will punish you hard. After reading 217 stuffs, I think my English improves tremendously Not bad for a person who does not have English as his mothertongue. I think after 217, you'll have a better understanding of the Directory Servicw & Infrastructure.
After the exam, I 'smell' like 'coffee', Have to get a 'bath' .
Till then, have fun. | |

| Congrats!!! Yes it is truely an endeavor to get through this one. You should have no problem with getting through 219. Just refer to Chapter Nine from the 2k Server Deployment Guide from the resource kit, online. That and a quick (I mean 'SKIM') through whatever textbook you might have purchased for this one and some practice exams.
I never read the text book I bought for this one, (219) just answered the chapter questions. Pretty much a successful score on 217 and understanding the steps laid out in Chapter 9, above, are all you need. The sooner you sit the better. try to get it 2-4 weeks from now, max. Good luck!!!

| Great work on revising and kicking it the second time. Personally, I had the same experience with this test that you had - failed it the first time through and had the test from Hell - took it the very next evening and passed with the puppy questions.
217 is not a breeze of a test and it comes darn close to the difficulty of 216, IMHO.

| I failed this one today. I guess I'll try again in two weeks. I only wish they would bring back the scores. Anyway thanks it's nice to know I'm not alone on this one. | |

Thats exactly what I did, and I passed no problem. I bought the Exam Cram and the Transcenders and used that with the Resource Kit. The biggest thing is getting used to that style of test. You'll have a hard time passing if you're not familiar with it.

| Unreal, it's on the MS website. Make sure you know your way around the MS website real well. Heck, you can even get free trials of just about every recent MS offering and beta versions, if you look hard enough. | |
