hi everyone - how are u 2day.

I am try to seting up my network with: 1 Windows 2000 Server runing as DC and Mail Server [Exchange Server 2000] and 5 Windows 2000 Professional clients.

In my server i have 2 network cards. 1st one connected to Hub and clints and 2nd one is connected Cisco 800 router/isdn line to provide Internet Access.

One the 1st card i have IP Address 192.168.1.5 Subnet Marks 255.255.255.0.

My Cisco router is 192.168.1.1

i also have DHCP and DNS Installed

I have set up IP address 192.168.0.1 255.255.255.0 on my 2nd network card which is connect to cisco router and internet.

after setting all this up i try to access internet from client PC and its works. then i try to send e-mail using Outlook 2000/Exchange server 2000 and it worked as well. but when i asked my friend to send me e-mail from Internet, it didn' work. i didn't get any e-mail.

Then i start reading Microsoft Training Ket and found that i have to register Domain name with InterNIC and then they provide IP address which i can use on my 2nd network card. But i still not get it. I have resigtered my Domain name Carmeluk.co.uk with Easynet. then I used it when i was installing my DNS server. i still can't get e-mail.

then i went to www.InterNIC.co.uk site and performed serach for www.carmeluk.co.uk and i found following information.

Domain Name: CARMELUK.CO.UK
Registered For: Carmel Clothing Ltd
Domain Registered By: EASYNET
Registered on 25-Mar-2001.

Domain servers listed in order:

NS0.EASYNET.CO.UK 195.40.1.250
NS1.EASYNET.CO.UK 195.40.0.250

Can I use Domain Server IP address Listed above on my Server 2nd Card which connected to Router and Internet.

What it wrong here.

Thanks for all your help.

You need public IP's on your routers public interface and on your server. 192.168.x.x will never work. "and then they provide IP address " CLUE...

Also an MX record (for your mail server) and an A (host) record on the easynet DNS servers otherwise nobody will be able to find them.......

That covers it I think, late at night here so if I forgot anything sue me
