| I have setup windows 2003 enterprise edition and it is setup as a domain controller. I have setup terminal services, and where before in Windows 2000 server you had the option of choosing application server mode or remote administration mode, from what I have read by installing the add on component for terminal serviecs is the equivalent of putting it in application server mode. Anyway when I log in the printers are not being redirected to the printer folder, any ideas | |

| There are actually several places this can be set. In the properties of the server in terminal services manager, in group policy and in the individual users profile. | |

| you are right, Jeff..At my office 2 of my 6 servers are terminal servers one running 2000 the other 2003. a gradual migration. I have yet to fully familiarise with Server 2003. I did the configuration at the properties of Terminal Service Manager. Try that.
Jeff, do you leave in Tuscon, AZ. I will be moving there this summer on company transfer. I heard its hot there.

| Yes, Tucson is my home, my work is in Phoenix. The summers are not as bad as they say. I recall from living in Houston that the humidity there made it seem about as bad as Arizona. Austin on the other hand is a beautiful place. | |

| E Broadway in Mesa? That is part of the Phoenix area.
My position is called I.S. Technician which basically means anything they throw my way. Primarily Network Admin with user support in an engineering and consulting company consisting of several business units spanning civil design to mining engineering and consulting.
It has been interesting thus far doing everything from new office setups to AD migration, WAN connectivity etc.
Hope you enjoy it here, not too bad a place. But the big things going on out here now are:
Roof Rats - close up any entry into your attic, harvest your citrus fruit.
Home Invasion - don't open your door to strangers, keep entries locked. This has tapered off a bit, but still scary.
Other usual crimes like car theft and carjacking.
Phoenix and Tucson, given their proximity to Mexico and California, are subject to a diverse and transient population. Crime patterns reflect that. Get to know your nieghbors and surroundings, keep an eye on the news. Keep tabs on your children. Mesa is not the worst part of the metro area, but all of the burbs have their ups and downs.
Mesa is largely served by I-60 and accesible by highway 202 and to some degree 101. They all go to heck at 5pm. I usually like to leave for work between 5am and 6am, traffic is not too bad. I usually stay late 6pm - 7pm to bypass the rush hour. I work in Phoenix proper and there is a big traffic pinch between the airport and 60 on I-10 usually. The biggest issue is that lanes appear and disappear suddenly on all of the highways here and that is the cause of slowing and accidents. Again it is not too bad, but just get a feel for which lanes go through to where you want to get to.
Mesa has a lot of good features: Mesa Community College, close to ASU. At least one decent concert venue with proximity to others. Apache lake is close by. Obviously you can have your pick of restaurants, movie theatres, shopping malls, health clubs, etc. | |

| Wow, thanks for the details info. I am working as network manager for a pest control company that have 6 branches throughout the nations. I mostly deal with Terminal services and setting branches with remote access ability. Quite fun but right now i am doing most of the job from assembling a PC to configuring switches, router and Windows 200 domain enviroment.
Plan to finish my MCSE in the middle of 2004 and go for my masters at ASU in year 2005. Examnotes.net has been a great community for me and for others as well.
