| Anybody got any good resources for CA? Trawling through Microsofts thesis on Certificate Authorities on Technet, feeling like I need a gentler approach to this topic. | |

Was this what you are reading? I like these Step-By-Step guides to get the hands-on understanding.
Whow! It is something new for me, very good resource. Thanks!

| Yes it is a good source for hands on but i don't think the questions will be on this.
I reckon you will get stuff like.
You have a web server you have clients accessing it what CA type will you set up.
If it's on a domain with AD then usually Enterprised based. In this situation it will probably be a subordinate enterprise from a commercial CA. But since it is giving certificates to outside clients then stand alone could be an option. Depends what detail the question gives.
If it's a stand alone not part of a domain like question then it is usually a stand alone CA from a commercial CA.
Enterprise CA's issue certificates within the company.
Stand alone CA's issue certificates outside the company.
Anyway this stuff isn't always clear. That's what i'm finding out about 216. There sometimes is 2 right answers and you have to pick the best one which makes the test so hard.
Anybody want to add some more info about certificates or correct what i said.

| Basically, the exam questions do revolve around what type of CA to deploy and how to revoke certificates, etc. You are correct in that observation. I think that our friends here will benefit from the hands-on that will make the terminology a lot more understandable. Without the hands-on, even if they understand the terminology, it is still only book knowledge.
There are other posts in 216 threads to my memory that do a pretty good job of summarizing CA Hierarchy, etc. I do recommend that they look for those as well. But the original poster was trying to get through some dry tech whitepaper, this will help. |
