All...

I took 70-216 today and passed!!!! I'm now an MCSA!!!!!!!! I was quite suprised by the test. I took it two weeks ago and failed. This time around I studied harder (CA's and RRAS especially)and went for it. The test was completely different from the first time. I used Transcender, The original M.O.C. 2153 from my class, and the Cramsession study guide (for quicker review).

On to 70-217! I wont be taking a class for the remainder of my certs, due to the fact that they seem to breeze over all the subject matter anyway, and you end up having to read most of it in preparation for the exam. It's cheaper to get the material and study on a home lab!

Congrats on passing! I would like to hear more about why you feel the classes do not better prepare for the MCSE exams. I considering taking a loan to attend MCSE classes at the Bierman Group. Cost: $10,000 min. It just seems like huge chunk for only 35 days of instruction. I was told I would be given the MOC too. Please share your insight. Thanks in advance!

Congratulations! couple more weeks I'll try it too.

I almost signed up for a school, good thing I didnt, they went out of business about a month after I would have started. One guy put up $16,000.00 the day before they closed the doors, they must have known the end was at hand, he lost every penny. Private school and no government protection for that in BC.

I would have lost about $10,000.00

Micro4....

Based on the time that most training centers allocate for the MOC, it is a waste of money. My instructor was very good, but he had to rush to get through each module, and still keep the schedule set fourth by the powers that be. A couple of times. we even skipped modules (like the IPSec module for 70-216 which is one of the key skills tested!) I would buy the books (MOC, MS Press, Sybex, etc) and do the labs at home. There are labs contained within the MOC that are very helpful, and that is the only part of the class environment that is really good (especially if you don't have access to a PC or server at home.) Bottom line, the choice is yours, and you can probably deduct some of the expenses from your taxes if you take the classes at a college that offers the training. Hope this helps.
