| For various reasons (one being I got a little lazy) I have not studied in a while. I have passed 210 and 215 and I want to move on. I am not sure which direction to go next. I know that 216 is supposed to be very difficult and I am not sure if that is the best way to go after so much time off.
Any suggestions on which exam I should prepare for next? Is 216 crucial to move onto other exams? Should I maybe get one or both of my electives out of the way before I ge tback to the core?
I appreciate your insight.

| I see you're working on both MCSA and MCSE, right? I'd recommend you to get 70-218 next. A straightforward, troubleshooting orientated exam. It's a combination of 210, 215, 216 and 217 material.
Also keep in mind that '03 track is around the corner and you should complete first the MCSA with 70-216 IMO (you never know when M$ will change their mind). Then you can continue with 217 and the electives for your MCSE.
Good luck! | |

| Opss, I missed that you have A+ and Net+ too(it's 1:00am here and I'm almost sleeping ). So, skip 216 and move on with 218 and 217... | |

| I am a little confused. The 218 exam is to complete the MCSA. Should I work on completing that before moving on. I have always viewed this exam as just another way for M$ to make money.
So if it is best to finish the MCSA first I guess I will go that route. I assume there will still be plenty of time before they discontinue any exams, right?
If I don't go with 218 would I be better off going with 217 or 216?

| Right, you don't need to get MCSA. It's just an option. It came out while I was on track for MCSE, I had taken 210,215,216,217. With three left, I felt that 218 was a distraction from my goal. You won't want to use MCSA and MCSE logos together in a resume, business card, brochure etc, as one supercedes the other.
Hopefully you have access to a couple of computers in a network lab type environment. Go with 217 to get back in the game, and take it from there.
I liked getting 216 out of the way early on, as it really provided a basis of knowledge that helps with the others, but heck I had to take it twice, so you might want to get a warm up before 216. 217 is not a push-over either, but most agree that it is easier than 216. Best of luck!

| That is what I was leaning towards. Thanks.
I don't have access to extra machine. I may be ordering a couple extra ones at work soon maybe I can use them.
Thanks again. |
