| me? I dunno... 2003-03-20, 2:15 pm |
| I'm trying to install sms network monitor on my NAT server. It isnt playing nice, I get a password error notice that wont allow me to proceed. I'm trying to get a monitoring tool that I can get a directional handle on traffic and block out IP#'s if need be rather than just port#
Am I on the right track trying to get the tools out of sms server?

| I don't know that SMS has any firewall capabilities, sound more like you want ISA server. If you have broadband, your router should give you some functionality in term of filtering addresses.
You seem nice enough, someone have it in for you?

I think there are quite a few curious people in the world.
Network monitor and RRAS console showed some connections that I didnt ask for, that were generating quite a bit of traffic, now I am curious.
I closed the ports and rebooted, that in combination with locking down my xp box firewall seemed to stop things temporarily at least.
I get the message that the version of network monitor that I want is the one in sms server. I just want to be able to keep the network healthy long enough to do my ras stuff. I guess I'll just have to keep an eye on my tcp connections and network traffic and take it from there. |
