Hello friends:

I have the following sceneario:

1 2k adv server who is DNS, AD and DHCP for small network.

only 13 clients, all with Windows Millenium.

I donīt have any name resolution problem, but i want to know if is better to add WINS service to the network.

thanks
alex

Seeing how this is a pretty small environment, I don't anticipate that alot of network traffic is being taken up by name resolution broadcasts. I'm guessing also that this isn't a routed environment either, correct? If you think that you have a lot of brodcasts, and its sucking up your bandwidth, then I would run "netmon" and see how many broadcasts you are actually getting. If the number is significant then I would consider setting up a WINS server, otherwise as long as names are resolving properly I don't see any reason why you would need one.

Your problem is not lack of WINS. It's the presence of ME. I have Ethereal as a sniffer. It downloads for free.
