| I'm taking 70-216 for the second time in about 24 hours. Was wondering if you had any recommendations as to what areas to cram for within that timeframe. I noticed the first time I took the test there was a lot of DNS & subnetting questions.... Was wondering what the rest of you thought... Thanks

| If you have test prep exams, just review the questions and make sure you understand WHY each answer is correct. If something is not clear, review that section in your books.
Get good rest tonight and eat something before the exam.
I was an MCSE Instructor for a year. The people who didn't do well on exams were too nervous.
Hope that helps and good luck!!

| By George!
Rest and diet, don't vary from the routine too much, schedule the exam when it is best for you.

| Thanks to all of you for all of your support! I finally passed 70-216.. I guess the 2nd times the charm... Anyways, I plan on taking 70-217 in the next few weeks and will hopefully be MCSE by the end of the year. Again, thank you all so much for your support!
For those of you still trying to pass this one, I noticed that the second time I took it there were zero subnetting questions. I did get tons of "blue border" questions which seemed kind of odd... They were a little more difficult than the regular questions... Lost of DNS, DHCP RRAS questions though... Make sure you know RAS & DNS like the back of your hand before taking this one.... It seems to be the main focus of the exam.

| Congrats! Yeah I liked this one so much I took it twice, too! | |

| Way to go! Most people would agree that 216 is the hardest exam.
You may want to go for 218 next. It's along the same lines but much easier. If you've passed 210 and 215, this will make you an MCSA.
Good luck on the rest! | |

| I just took this test two weeks ago and failed (my second try). I also noticed the "blue border" questions which seemed to alternate in between three to four "regular looking" questions. The "blue border" questions also seemed to take longer to load. By the end of the test I could tell when a "blue border" question was going to be next by the pause.
I was disappointed that there weren't any subnetting questions. Something I felt I didn't do well on on the first test so I made sure I knew it well for the second test. The majority of the questions on the second 70-216 I took seemed to revolve around IPSec and certificates.
I plan on taking it again, but plan on buying a book specifically on the 70-216. I don't want to fail it a third time. Does anyone have any recommendations for a good 70-216 book?
PS I waited a year before taking the 70-216 a second time. Probably too long.

| I've used Sybex for the 3 W2K exams I've passed and I used New Riders for NT4. I'm working through the Sybex book for 70-216 right now, and it seems ok at the moment. | |

| The MS Administrator's Companion is very in-depth and will cover everything you need to pass 216.
I would review some of the subjects you saw on your other tries and read those chapters.
Good luck.
YOU CAN DO IT!! | |

| Subject says it all. I have to take this pig and I don't want to pay for it twice if you know what I mean. I will prep using my traditional , read a book, take the transcenders, briefly review one of the "cheater docs" and then review my "weak spots" then hopefully know my stuff going in. I have heard that this one is where Microsoft makes thier money. Any idea where the % pass breakpoint is on this one.
I think the DNS/AD/DHCP stuff will be my stong point whereas RRAS will need some work, particularly the RAS and a little less the R if you know what I mean...
Cheers,

| I also want to know what a "Blue Border" Question is. I've passed the 210 in Sept & 215 last night is it something I would have seen there? | |

| There basicaly what seem to be the newest pool of question and you'll get them in 216 & 217 for sure. Don't worry about them particularly although i would say those i have experienced are a little tougher than your straight forward variety. If you can answer the tests from transcender or other testing engines then the blue borders are no more difficult. I don't mean to be patronising but as i have only three exams left i have learnt my own golden rule
"Study as much as possible makes every exam that much more manageable."
Something I learnt through failing 217 twice as all others i passed first time but got lazy with 217.

| ...I think I will go play with 219 instead : ) | |

| the blue borders are not really much harder than the others, its just the blue border takes a while to load and has a 'reputation' of being harder - throwing you before you even start it. |
