| I am unsure about remote installation
Here's my imaginery problem
I have 20 computers same specs, with no OS installed. How do I install, XP Pro for example, using a computer running Server 2000? Do I use RIPrep or Sysprep, with a 3rd party software? Do I use an answer file and where do I place it?
I am sure there are guys out there who will find this easy but I need to know fully how to do this

| That would be a lot to ask to write up here.. Best bet would be to find the information on www.microsoft.com on how to.
I would think that riprep is what you are wanting to do, because sysprep creates a disk for disk duplication, were riprep preparers images for RIS deployment.
check here for some more information..

| If you are talking about real-world solutions, you would use third party software (i.e. Ghost, ImageCast, etc.)
If you are wanting to know the M$ answer-
You use sysprep for an install of the OS only.
You use RIprep for an install of the OS and additional applications.
Hope that helps. |
