Hello

Could someone please offer me a little advice?

I have got the 216 exam booked in three weeks time but as it draws close I am becoming less confident about my knowledge.

I have heard people using several study guides to prepare for exams and am now considering this.

For this and my other exams I have just used MSPress Study Guides and Trancender practice engines.

I am looking to get one of the Sybex books. For the 216 they do a study guide which is the same size as the MSPress book or they do an exam notes which is a little more concise and just contains hard facts in a revision format.

Has anyone got any thoughts about which would be the best buy? Or has anyone used either/both?

Thanks in advance for your help!

stay away from Sybex. For the 216, I have two recommendations: as much hands-on on RRAS as you can muster, and the TCP/IP book in the Windows 2000 Resource Kit.

The hands on experience with Windows 2000 networks is the most important thing for this exam. Then read your books and then get some good practice exams to master your knowledge. You can try EasyCert from www.jrksoftware.com, Transcenders (www.transcender.com) or ExamEssentials.

Get the study guide from Osborn and EasyCert practice exams. You'll be fine with these.

Good luck!

What do you mean, freak, by saying "Stay away from Sybex"?

Is that for 70-216 only or for all other exams?

That is because I use Sybex for CCNA & I may also decide to use it for MCSA exams. Please I need your opinion.

I don't like Sybex for Win2K. Too many errors, and the writing style just insn't my cup of tea. For CCNA, the ICND book from Cisco Press is the best book imho...

luisjo,

do you think the global press books are ok?

i have got the whole set (70-210,215,216,217)
and i have been using them to study for my core four, but i have never heard them mentioned before on this site (Only sybex and ms press etc.) and i was wondering if it was because people thought that they wre rubbish.

They seem ok to me, although i often find myself refering to the web in order to sort out confusing issues.

Whenever I write it... which could take a while. I have been trying to find all the excuses in the world NOT to write it

I have to finish the 217 and the i-Net+ study guides first. Then I will attack the 216 with much glee and enthusiasm in my heart
