Your internal dns is located behinf a firewall. the server pass the simple test but fail the recursive test.

the solution is:

delete c:\system32\dns\cache.dns

and

copy c:\system\system32\dns\samples
\cache.dns to c:\system32\dns\cache.dns

why?
i want to know some good explanations of this.........

Not sure about this one, it probably has something to do with the private addressing behind the firewall, and the recusive can't get back on the private IP. Let me check later, may be I will get luck...

The current root hints file has become corrupt causing DNS recursion to fail, therefore, it should be replaced with the backup copy allowing DNS recursion to work.

cache.dns file has the negative response in it even though the host exists, doing this allows the correct response to get into the cache.
