Just wondering - I got the impression that once I got my first MCP (a few months back now) that I get a free subscription to the monthly Technet CD's delivered to my house for a year.

Did I read this completly wrong? ... or is it a North America offer only (typical with all good offers).

I got a discount .... nothing else!! But you will probably find that it is for N American based people - these offers normally are!!

I think you'll find you need to get the MCSE or equivalent to get the Free Technet Subscription for one year.

I thought it was a 50% discount for MCP and MCSE

I was only offered a discount. I passed on it because my place of employment gets it, so why should I buy it too.

i think i remember when i started thinking about this certification lark, that technet sub was free for a year when u became mcse. i guess times have changed. mind u, i did get eval copies of xp, w2k and w2k server and possibly a .net or sql eval pack for nothing from microsofts uk site.

by the way, presumably i will have to reformat my drives and reinstall 120-day eval copies in the lab, if it takes longer than the four months to achieve my goal(s)?
me? I dunno...

the eval copies in my lab never even came close to expiring. my screw ups have been so consistent and numerous that any worries of an install outlasting the expiration date now seem humorous in the least.

I'm hoping to minimize this phenomenon with win2k server, as I've found it's more of a chore to reconstitute.

LOL! me?

I know what you mean. I am currently finding new ways to screw up DNS settings on my lab server. Breaking things a few thousand times is the best way for me to learn the details.

I think that's how some of us learn best, break it and try to fix it.

Wow! How totally lame of M$ to be so cheap! How much money, time and effort have we put into this venture....LOTS. And it promotes using THEIR product, yet they won't even give a year's worth of MSDN to us? Is Bill behind on a house payment? Shame on Micro$oft!
