Well, I took the "beast" today and failed. I have studied 3 months for this test and thought I was more than prepared. I read through the MS Press book, took the MOC, and studied 4 different study guides and still failed. This is the first test I have failed and am not sure how I will conquer this thing. I passed my CCNA, Net+, and the 2k Pro and Server tests. Maybe a little humility won't be too bad for me.

I feel for you. I am in the same boat. I passed 6 exams with no trouble and studied 2 months for 216 and thought I was ready too. I failed. So now I have my next shot at it tomorrow. We'll see how it goes. Keep going and you will get there.

Don't feel bad, the "beast" has eaten its share of test takers. Keep pluggin away at it. You now have the advantage of having seen it once. Did you walk out of the test feeling like you were close or did you walk out feeling like you weren't even close? I'm approaching this one slowly. Maybe considering giving it a shot late August.

For you folks that are lamenting about 216, adjust you history on this board to 'show all' and spend a few minute reading the past posts. This board can really help you!

I don't see Transcender in your list of study materials. I spent 13 days on this one, used Transcender in conjunction with the Sybex book and the W2K Resource Kit, and passed first time. The exam was amongst the hardest I've taken (70-029 takes the prize there), but in the end there was nothing all that special about it, and my regular one-pass preparation technique worked.

Sorry to hear about it guys.. it seems that DivxGuy is promoting Transcender as if he works for the company no offence DivxGuy.. Transcender gives you detailed explaination for every answer so that you know why the answer is wrong or correct.. MS Press book & some free notes from examnotes & cramsession could help you too

If it works, hey. I'm no academic whiz, and yet I managed to pass 10 MCP exams in a row, with no failures along the way (too bad it didn't impress any employers). I credit Transcender with a lot of that success.

Oh no...Too bad about the non-pass. Better next time I am sure. Keep plugging at it. I have just read the first few pages in my book for 216. Haven't set a date yet...by the looks at it, I ain't gonna be too hasty on this one. (Not that I was hasty AT all on the others!!)

Sorry about the fail I used the MS Press Study Guide and Transcenders which were very helpful with their in-depth explanations. This helped me pass all my exams (11 total)on the first try.

I just got the transcenders for this yesterday and will use them for all they are worth and then take it again here in a week or so. To Pavlov, I did think I was close when I clicked the "end exam" button however It wasn't a huge surprise when I saw my results. I think the difference in this test compared to the others I have taken is that there was no "fact-type questions." All the questions are scenario which I must say that I respect because you really have to know your stuff and be able to use it in a practical manner. Like I said, I did get a nice dose of humility but now I have a little more respect for the guys who have passed it. I really considered taking the easy way out and just taking the A+ and use it in conjuction with my Net+ so I wouldn't have to take the beast but I feel like I have something to prove now and will conquer this test. Thanks to everyone for your support.

I think it's really important to remember the three top subjects whose questions gave you difficulty. Do a drill down on each of them by reviewing articles on Technet or some of the better boards.

Good luck though, the second time is a lot more fun.
