Just failed 216 again. 4th time. Argh!
I don't think I failed it by a whole lot, but in going over my notes now, I've seen at least two questions I messed up. Life blows.
Now they're saying they won't give me any more test pass guarantee at my school. Still have to fight that out. Life blows even more.
I just can't get enough hands-on. There is no one here at school qualifed to teach any of this stuff, except for one guy at the other campus in Indianapolis. He has to drive 5 hours to come and tutor me.

Life blows even even more now.

Sorry to hear that.
Do give up though.
That exam is the worst. May be you need a rest. Take a break and relax.
Is this your last exam?

No, it's NOT the last exam. I wish it was. I STILL need to do 217, 218, and 219. Current "school" "instructor" (who has NOT done 216) told me today that he talked to president of school who told him after this exam he wasn't going to pay for the exam with the "test pass guarantee". If that's the case, I'm going to hit him up for a refund of my tuition and I'm going to see if I can go back to New Horizons. AT least THEY have formal classes. That's what I WANT is some instruction, which MasterPRO seems unable to provide. They insist that that the "learn at your own pace" is the best. It's also cheaper for them (and me); they don't have to pay big $$$ for a REAL MCT. Then again, I never did pass NT4 Server until my 9th time. Just kept choking on it. Boy, was new Horizons mad at me for that. Maybe I should just forget 216 for a while and go do 217, 218, 219(??), It's so FRUSTRATING!!! Argh! School I go to now is tired of hearing me XXXXX andmoan about my lack of hands-on, but I think that is my main problem. I'm the one paying to go there. Don't I have a right to XXXXX?

Ooooops! It's wasn't my 4th time! This was my 3rd time! 4th time coming up. I'm just so MAD at myself. Argh.

Sorry to hear about your misfortune. I believe the 216 is the toughest of the certs! Try to identify your weak spots and concentrate on those. Make it past 216 and it's all down hill from there. Good luck!

Sorry about your exam. Try to keep your head up. I've attended MOC classes at both New Horizons(Independence, OH) and ComDoc(Broadview Heights, OH) and I'd have to give the nod to ComDoc.

If you are thinking about taking MOC classes at a CTEC (in the Cleveland area), you might want to give ComDoc a look. The MCT's that taught the classes I attended were quite good. I can't say that for all the MCT's I encountered at New Horizons.

You might want to entertain the idea of switching gears and tackling the 70-218 exam. It's very straight forward and fair. Passing this exam may help you get some confidence back. You could then look at taking the 216 again or go for 217.

Best of luck to you.

YOU MY FRIEND ARE A WARRIOR!

I to want to just go ahead and take 217, but you know what...I'M NOT....it bothers me too much and in a couple of weeks I'm going to SLAY that CYCLOPS!

DON'T GIVE UP!

Sorry to hear of your unsuccessful attempts. How about trying for other exams. And leaving 216 for later.

Do you have your own test network? I added a P133 test machine to mine for a relatively small sum, and it helped a lot with my lessons. If your school is no good, there are other ways of getting hands-on experience.

BTW sounds like the NT4 Server exam was a heck of a lot harder than 70-215!

Go for 217, that would be my advise. Ive taken 216 two times already. I put it to rest for a few weeks and nailed 217. Went back and did 210 for the heck of it, now with a little break I went back after it again, youd be surprised how much the other ones clear it up a little bit. Hopefully this works for me, we'll know next Tuesday, good luck!

TpaBrad has a point.
May be you should consider taking an other exam. Oh boy 216 is nasty exam. I don't know how much of experience someone can have since he/she is in "school"
I have set up a small network home for study purposes but is like throwing rock in the Giant :-))

I'm going for my second try on the Beast tomorrow morning. I have to admit, I'm a little nervous. I got killed on the RRAS questions the last time. I've focused quite a bit of my attention on that subject this time. Hopefully, it will go well.

I've already made up my mind to go onto 218 for the confidence builder, then take 217 and 219 if I fail 216 again.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do from here. I can't stress enough how tough this exam is and that you can't beat yourself up too much over not passing.

Call me a buff old traditionalist, but I was under the impressions that MCT's were not supposed to teach subjects in which they themselves have not mastered?

216 is by far nastiest in the MSCE track. Try 217 which is the closest thing to 216. Many questions in the 217 test purposely leave out the obvious which sends you down the wrong track in trying to answer it. Take your time and read the questions carefully. Break them down with pencil and paper, after all if you run into some of the scenarios presented in this test in a field situation you would probably not figure it out in your head. You are right to study for RRAS for this test. Also have a good understanding of WINS. Which in my opinion is ludicrous because the WINS questions on the test I took were applied to native W2K domains. Took me 3 hours and 10 minutes to pass this one and there was only one question that left me clueless. Good Luck!!

Yes, 217 was one of 2 exams I was unsure that I'd passed when I was ready to click the button to end the test. The other, of course, was 216.

to go forward again. Went over to New Horizons today to talk to someone. Wanted to talk to either Ross (Branch manager) or Bill Curley (my account executive when I was going there). They were both busy. Some excuse about being the end of the month. I didn't have an appointment, didn't really need one.
Lotta new faces there. They still have my picture on the bulletin board that they took when I passed my last exam, NT Enterprise, Nov. 20, 2000. Was surprised at that.
Branch Manager Ross advertises the school on local radio stations. Part of his spiel is him talking about "after-class support". That's what I wanted more info on. Talked to "education consultant" Matt, he told me he was my new "account exec". I told him my story, told hm I just failed 216 again for the 3rd time yesterday. "ouch" he says. he asked me if it was me that left the voice mail messages they never returned. I said yes, he said they were very sorry about it.
Long story short, he says NH is looking to start an internship/externship program to give people more hands on. They are looking for people to fill posiitons. He asked me to emial him my resumes. I asked him, does he want my 4pg. resume, or my 1 1/2 pg. resume. he said send them both, he will get with ROss and see what can be done. I really don't believe him yet, but I'd be happy to be proven wrong.
Spid, ComDoc would be nice, but I've never been in the building; don't know anyoen there. AT lest I still know a few people at NH. One of the instructors I worked with is still there, although the one I really wanted to work with is now long-gone. Todd was the best instructor they had there. I had him for 3 of my classes, boy does he know his stuff. He passed 70-240, I hear now he is a CCIE. I don't know of any certifications he doesn't have. But I have not talked to him in a longtime either. I wish I had his email. I hear he makes $800.00 a DAY just free-lancing. Teaching too, I guess.
Once Vick (pres of MasterPRO) comes back into town on Monday I'll get with him. If he denies me the test pass guarantee anymore, I'll hit him up for a FULL refund of my tuition. I'm just paying $10.00 a month for the 1st year of rickin' frickin Sallie Mae loan. Man, I hate dealing with SM.
I'm NOT giving up on the exams. Sure I'm P****d off, but Idon't care how many times I have to take the stupid thing. Jamey the MasterPRO "instructor" may think it's hilarious, but I don't give a crap about him.

Yeah, that's what I thought too. This Jamey guy, I'm not too sure about his certs. When you enter the school, he has his MCP cert on the wall, and his Network+, I think. I'm not for sure if he is an MCT or not; if he is, he sure is low-key about it. I'm not the only one there studying the W2K track, However, I'm apparently the first one to get this far. Whenever I see Jamey conducting an "in-service" (Their terminology for a "class"), it's usually A+, Server+, or one of the easy certs. I'm not even sure if he's an MCSE or not; if he is, why wouldn't he have his MCSE cert on the wall?

Hmmmm....

eyeccd,

I just noticed that you have been using full names and first names of various instructors in your posts. You do realize that this site has a huge membership(not to mention viewership). I think you may be doing them an injustice whether good commentary or not by posting their names in your comments.

Note: you and the rest of us are under a nickname. Why call out the names of the people you know and who could possibly be a member of this site....just my opinion.

You do have the ability to go back and edit your commentary. Rather than say, "this Jamey guy" just say, "this guy" There is absolutely NO reason for us to know their names whether full or just first names.

Sorry to hear of your bad luck. I suggest you go for 217, then 219 right after it. I took 217 before 216 and found that it helped me, especially the DNS portion. Hang in there and don't give up!

I don't know what these MOC tests cost,,but based on what I have seen, seems money is better invested in your own network.

It can be done pretty cheap.I buy the MS Press books ( that come with evaluation OS), you can get used PC's at Retrobox.com,I buy the cheapest that meets OS requirements.

Now that I have passed 215, my top workstation will become my DC and I will order another DC for AD rep., trusts etc.

Wish you luck.......making your own mistakes and figuring out the fix, is the only class I have taken.

Also, I found studying at least on test ahead gives you better odd.

Keep your chin up and don't despair. It's not the end of the world. It's only a bump on the road which you will pass over someday.

I agree with other members' suggestion that maybe you should take a break from the 'beast' and try studying for another exam.
