Keep your head up. A lot of people fail that the first time. I had an instructor that was one of the sharpest guys I knew fail it. I'm going to be taking that one next, and I totally anticipate on failing it also. But I can't keep an attitude like that, otherwise I'm destined to fail. Gonna study HARD and get lots and lots of hands on. All those RRAS questions are going to be the killer for me. So don't get yourself down too much, you will definately pass next time. Wish MS would tell you how much you failed by, or what areas you need to work on.

Yes, the exam is tough but it is passable. Just hang in there, study hard, get as much hands-on as possible and don't be intimidated. I had a good number of those questions where they give you 4 or 5 objectives with 4 or 5 things you do and they want to know which of the objectives did you meet. What I do is I break it down by objective, see if the first one is meet, the go to the next objective and so on. That way has helped me. Yes, I had many RRAS questions on my exam but they were straight-forward. You just need to get a handle on the topic. Good luck!

Not again. Once again, braindumps are bad. You don't learn the material with them. I really wish people would stop endorsing them.

I failed this 70-216 Exam also on May 20th! I am so bummed about this. I passed three other exams in a row without a problem then, boom! I failed! I had no idea this exam was that tough. Oh well, I'm just cramming until I am positive that I am ready this time. I'm not going to even schedule this one until I am sure.

What did you find most difficult?

The big deal on the 216 is to take a little more time for it than the others. The amount of material covered for this one cert is immense, and it should have been split into two. Get in as much lab work as possible to help yourself remember all the different and very complicated configurations and how all the services interact with one another and all the clients, protocols, certificates, authenication protocols, IPSec security, remote access policies, subnetting, zones, scopes, etc. If you take the requisite time and drill yourself diligently, then the test is passable, but you better know all the required objectives thoroughly to pass. Be determined and don't give up! I wish you all the best of luck!

All of it ...lol

I personally thought the hardest part was the confusion of Dynamic DNS and also the parts of when to setup DHCP Relays or BootP forwarding in subnets other then the one that has a DHCP server. I also have a tough time with Subnetting. I'm not quick enough on splitting the subnets and having the answers they are looking for. As soon as I got in there to test I jotted down from memory a chart to go by but, didn't get to use it. That threw me way off. I wasn't prepared enough at all for this test. Since the failed attempt, I find it difficult to buckle down to study again. Can't get myself motivated again lately. This is so tough as a single mom too! I spent three months studying and got three certs but need so much more still.

'Sue
Dont let up just yet!
Re-formulate and revitalize!
There is so much free info on the web. Just kick it for four weeks. You just named your three weak spots: DNS (study articles from Shinder on Cramsession.com), DHCP (this is cake!), and Subnetting (This one has been beat to death on this board! Freak is the expert and there's enough other players to keep it going.)
Take three weeks, one for each topic above. Then use the last 6 days to drill on whatever practice exams you can get your hands on. I can help you with a list of free trials and online exams that can add up to good prep for exam. This can be fun, you just got your first taste of real victory, your just not there yet.

Jeff, Thank you so much for your encouraging words! It's nice to know that there are mentors like you out there to help me. Getting these Certifications is almost like joining a community of great people. It seems that everyone is so helpful. I have already noticed a couple of other interested newcomers asking me for advice on starting out. Of course I don't have much wisdom to provide as of yet but, I will get there someday. I will go check out cramsession for help on some of this.

don't worry. Failing the 216 on the first try is almost par for the course

Best of luck for next time!

Most times, wisdom can be measured by how much you know about what you don't know. You know?!

Well I can definately relate to you all. I usually fly through these exams without a problem, passed all my cisco and NT4 exams first try. I was on a roll till I hit this track, 216 in particular. I have been studying non-stop, and have gotten discouraged a couple times. Im taking 216 for a third time next week. What gets me is I get in there, ready, and I start getting stuff that confuses me, I try to use the same methology I do on my practice, but Microsoft seems to get me everytime. Im really hoping 3 will be a charm on this....
