I just got back from taking 216--I passed. This was my second attempt and obviously I fared a bit better. For those who have already taken the exam once, you can understand what I'm about to say.
In my first attempt, I had prepared but not to the extent that this exam calls for. Also, I had to battle the reputation that this exam has buiit over the past year. After coming away failing, I felt that I was close. Back to the servers, books, software, and forums.
This test is passable. Do not get psyched by the reputation. After some fine tuning, I was prepped for the second go round. The anxiety wasnt there and I was able to actually think during the exam.
Be ready for detailed questions concerning DNS, WINS, RRAS, VPN, routing, etc. If you dont know it cold, MS will throw you an iron life jacket for an answer.
***On Friday, a co-worker told me about the beta questions on the exam. He read that there were 15 of them. He also told me that they could be identified b/c the font was slightly larger. SUPPOSEDLY, THESE QUESTIONS DONT COUNT TOWARDS YOUR FINAL SCORE?!?! I didnt pay him much mind b/c he hasnt taken the exam yet. On question 51 on my exam, the font got a bit larger and the question a little tougher and trickier. In short, Ques 51-65 were newer questions. Eight were select and place, seven had exhibits. I made sure that I had the first fifty answered and then concentrated on the last fifteen. PLEASE, I DONT KNOW FOR SURE HOW THE BETA QUESTIONS ARE SCORED BUT THEY WERE THERE ON MY EXAM. NOTHING MORE, NOTHING LESS.
For those who have this exam in the queue, worry about the concepts and you will be fine. Good luck! | |

| Thanx for the congrats. This is the kind of test that you feel real good about after you pass, ya know?
This was my last W2k exam. I look it at like this: I took the first test to get loose and used the second one to produce. I am on to learn another technology.
Hey Freak...I'm on to the Citrix [CCA] forum. We have been using Citrix 1.8 at my shop since 9/11. You have some nice info on your site.
