| Planning on doing 216 again tomorrow. This time I'm doing it where I go to school. Branch manager got the axe a few weeks ago, so I'm now dealing with the President of the school. He's OK. He's giving me the free test pass guarantee I was denied the first time. Working now on memorizing more questions. Yeah, I know, I know. But the level of hands-on available here at school is woefully inadequate. I'll pass this thing eventually.
I know about the no-score policy; but just curious, does anyone know how many (correct) questions required to pass on 65 question exam?
Had interview last Fri. at local Law firm. They're the other side of town for me, but it's only a 40min 23mile drive for me. I can get used to that. Firm is looking for someone to show them how to use their software better. Someone to help cure their blue screen errors. Someone to help them integrate PDAs. Hey, I LOVE my Casio e-125. Position starts around $38K-$40K. Small firm, up against at least 7 other people. Of those 7 that were in the meeting I was in Fri. morning, 3 were women. 2 of them talked about completing their A+. One of the interviewers (their currnet sysadmin) mentioned another meeting the previous day (last thurs.) I don't know anything about that; who was there, competition, etc.
You think a poor, broke, unemployed MCSE had got a chance? Just waiting to hear back from them now.
Applied this morning at local FedEx hub. geez, the paperwork! Sure could use the exercise, though.

| First of all let me wish you a "good luck" on the job opportunity. One thing I thought I'd mention though is to not be worried about "how many can I miss?" If you know the material and feel comforatable with it then your probably ready but instead of focusing on "what will it take to pass," just go in there knowing you'll pass. Only you know if you're ready. Good luck | |

| Don't lose track on the exam. Focus hard and best of luck to you! | |

| Good luck on the exam, just stay focused. If you get a question you're not sure about, mark it and come back to it later. | |

| Just finshed the exam. Failed again. It was NOT the same exam I did the first time. Of course, I didn't expect that it would be. Had a question regarding Novell 3.11 and Novell 4.1. I have ZERO experience with Novell. Learned about it when studied for my NT4, just never really used any of it. Is there an option to configure BOTH Novell 3.11 and 4.1 network numbers via the Registry? had a question that suggested answers either of Novell 3.11 or 4.1 or both, configured by registry key.
Talked with the school president after finishing the exam. He got a conference call going with one of his guys in the other school campus in Indianapolis. They gave me a new sybex softcover book and we decided to hold off on 216 for a while; gonna try 217 and 218 instead. Pass them and then re-take 216. Probably what I should have done in the first place. President (Vick) told me they would take care of my next exam (cost-wise). Now I just have to detour and do somethng different. The 216 guy (he's passed the exam, and is a lot better than the Jerk)in Indianapolis (Jeff) said he will come to town here to help me before I'm eligble to take the test again in 14 days. Never thought that was really enforced much, but I guess it is, now.
My poor wittle bwain hurts.

| Sorry you didn't make it again, but it sounds like you guys have a good plan of action and that you are finally receiving the assistance and cooperation you need.
Regarding Netware 3.11 and Netware 4.1. Netware 3.11 uses the 802.3 frame type and Netware 3.12 and above uses 802.2. If the network has both types, then both types need to be installed. To install both types on Windows 2000 Professional, you'll need to edit the PktType value in the registry to include the hexadecimal value for both the 802.2 and 802.3 frame types. Specifically, add both types to the multi-string value PktType in
HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\
Services\NwlinkIPX\Parameters\
Adapters\<ID>, (where <ID> is the network adapter identifier.) Good luck! | |

| And I had one possible solution to that question with that exact same answer you gave, Zara, and I didn't choose it.
I also found afterwards a quesiton that I did have marked right the first time, and went back and changed it so it was wrong! D'oh!
I made a little goof in my previous posting; school President (Vick) gave me a new sybex "4-in-1" book softbound that covers all 4 cores. Jeff, the 216 guy in Indianapolis, said in the conference call that this book's section on 216 boils the entire thing down to about a hundred pages. He wants me to study that before he comes into town on the 14th (1 day before I'm eligible to do the test again) to tutor me. I guess I'm going to stick with 216 for the time being, not do 217 and 218. I guess changing in mid-stream like that isn't a good idea.
Just found out tonight I got a little contracting job starting on the 7th. runs until the 16th, this will be my first income I make this year!!! $15.00/hr. Ahhhh, what a life.
