And today's poser is ....

Q76. Whilst at the DHCP server, you receive the following error message:

This scope has an internal data conflict error

What should you do?

A. Stop and restart the DHCP service.

B. Delete the scope and reconfigure it.

C. Run the jetpack.exe utility.

D. Restore the DHCP database from backup.

E. Authorize the DHCP Server in Active Directory.

And the answer is ....

Correct Answers: C

All DHCP lease information is kept in the DHCP database located in the %SystemRoot%\System32\DHCP folder. All DHCP client records are contained in this database.

When you receive the error message indicated in this item, you need to recover any data that may be corrupt in the DHCP database. You do this by using the Jetpack.exe utility.

Stopping and restarting the DHCP service may not recover the corrupt data in the database. Deleting the scope and reconfiguring it does not recover the data. It actually starts the scope over again from scratch. All leases would need to be renewed.

Restoring the database from backup would only work if it was a very recent copy. Only the data contained in the backup could be recovered. Any new data would be lost.

Authorizing the DHCP server in Active Directory should have already been done.
