| 1) I am the administrator of a small school network, therefore I have never needed to subnet, and I only had vague understanding how how to do it. I learned by watching some powerpoint lectures at http://www.learntosubnet.com. The lectures get repetitive, and you can't fast forward through them, but they did a GREAT job, and provided lots of sample problems. skip the intro and summary sections to save time.
2) PKI is another area where I just read and read without absorbing much. I just got a bunch of cool articles off of google, though, by searching the words "PKI explained."
