in the past i make a post regarding some problems with dhcp bad address.

yesterday i discover that the problems was regarding 2 bootp clients on the network: a switching hub and a wireless hub. this 2 hosts are using ip address from the dhcp scope and conflicts with clients.

whats happen here?. what is the recomendation on this case?.... i can check this thanks to languard scanner, a 3rd party utility, but why 2k dhcp say "bad address" instead of "bootp clients"?????

i´m very confused with this........ but at least now i know where to look when i see bad address conflicts...

ough... i forget: my solution to this problem: i remove the automatic bootp ip configuration on the hosts, and provide manual ip address to this hosts. later, i exclude their ips on the dhcp scope..... nice, easy, effective solution.

Good job. When adding switches and managed hubs, make sure to allow for addresses for them in your design. Give them fixed addresses and exclude from range.

this happen because i´m not the network administrator of this network. i only help to this guys and in the last meeting, several ip problems was encountered on the network. several peoples come to a meeting in the office and the dhcp show several problems when start to provide ip address to such people. but now i know.

a new design with class c private ip address is scheduled for design because several routes are needed and now we are using valid ip address, and on the reality thing: only web and ftp servers need this ips....

of course. on my designs i add network printers, routers, switchs, server cameras, hubs, wireless hubs and every host. here on this enviroment you can see how only a single bootp client can kill your complete network and add amazing problems.
