Performance Log Permission

| Hi,
Just a quick question. If you wanted to delegate the ability to create WINS server performance logs what could you do? I mean without giving that person any other permissions.

| Hey Trebor,
You can create a task pad for that user, using a MMC snap-in. Doing this will make it easier for the user as well, it doesn't give them any extra permissions, just makes it so that they can only 'see' what you want them to.

I hope this helps
Let me know if you have any questions or need help with anything. | |

| Thanks for the answer Techie.
Here is the problem. A task pad doesn't delegate authority.
There are two answers I have come accross to this question and I am not sure which is correct. Since they have to do with groups maybe this belongs in the 70-217 forum.
1) Add the user to the Domain Local group named Wins Users.
2) Create a new Domain Local group named Performance Administrators Add the user to the Performance Administrators group
I, myself was leaning more toward a third solution but I can't win (no pun) support for it.
3) On the WINS servers, change the NTFS permissions on the System32\Wins folder to include Read permission for user
