| Maybe I'll come back to this one after getting the 217 out of the way.
Thought I had studied until I couldn't
anymore.
Geez, this one is a real %@#*!...

| hi
here is the way i had studied..
I have a book by Alan carter which gives a good indepth look at all the four core exams with a cd software along with it too.
( really helpful for getting familiar with the environment )
ISBN: 81-265-0144-8
Other than that i used the free software from Techskills(helpful).
I would advise you to look through a couple of braindumps very carefully and understand each and every question.( i used only http://www.XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX (70-216: Choose the braindumps with a rating of 10/9 so you can be sure that most of the questions are correct)
Mind you i really feel that the questions are being changed a little in the examination so understand the use of each of the protocols ***** (transport,security-authientication and don't blindly click the answers thinking its the same one that you read in the practice tests.
My advice would be to try to picturize the scenario and draw sketches in paper while you study so that you get a bet understanding of how the scenario is implemented.
Don't forget to undersand how to determine the subnet mask and scopes for various subnets, no of hosts etc etc . I got atleast 5 questions related to that. All solved with a nifty formulae.
Understand Routing and Remote access, DHCP Relay agent, basically all those aspects( DNS.etc etc).---------> Thoroughly.
I'll send you a couple of related questions that i got in the exam soon.
Study well...and i wish you the best .
Just don't give up.
Best of luck

| I am about to go in for my third try, third time lucky. I find that there is so much material on this exam and so many many angles they can query you on. So I am not sitting it again until I have covered every concept I am unsure about. It is easy to get sidetracked with the amount of material on each topic so don't be fooled.
I have been rehashing the material for the third time and it is not fun, but look on the bright side, sometimes we need a challenge, to fail and then to achieve and end up knowing the material better than ever.
Advice is prac prac prac!

| I was beginning to think that maybe I was biting off more than I could chew...
Surrender isn't an option though; the rewards are too great!
I took a look at the mcsebraindump and immediately saw several questions that had me saying "Doh!" Will be studying this and the Troytech again before taking my next shot at it!
Will keep you all posted--
Good luck to all who will face "the Beast!"

| I have been advised for all of my past few years to stay away from braindumps and not listened, past exams I have cruised through with referral to dumps. But now I am inclined to stay away from them and from troytech. I used them on my past attempts and realized after research and hitting the actual books and pracs that nearly all braindump material is b*****it. I would have passed first time with alot less effort if I had stayed away!!!...
besides I hate passing an exam and knowing I couldn't come thru in the job.

| So which practice exams have you been using this time around? I've used the SelfTest software until my eyeballs popped! And now that I realize it, the Troytech does have a number of errors on it.
The MOC gives you just the facts--not real good on giving you an understanding on everything you need to know!

| I am sticking with transcenders, to ensure I know everything about a topic even if its not the material in the exam it still gives me a better understanding and chance of the exam, especially when it comes to sitting through LONG questions!!!... I am also using Sybex Virtual Test Centre and Cramsession Skilldrills. I am now using the Test Centre and to skilldrills on cramsession.com, when I get consistently 20% over pass mark for these tests I will sit it again. At the moment I am busy working through IPSEC and Certs. I have also picked up the cbtnuggets in the last day or two so they will help.

| The 216 is a monster. I heard it was the hardest test out of the bunch and an MCT recommended that I wait until I'm done with the rest of the 6 test before I even try it. I finished 6 of the 7 in two weeks. I didn't take 216 until a week and a half later. I took my time, studied regularly and I ended up with an 860. This is not a test to cram on. I crammed on all the others and did well, but 216 is the exception. | |

| Have been checking out the SkillDrills on Cramsession (awesome!) and the mcsebraindump and think that maybe I'll finally nail this exam next time--with LOTS of study!! | |
