| hello all I just joined examnotes forums today though I have been checking out this site for a few months now, anyway I am enrolled in a Tech school and just finished a 6week course for 70-210 and have done alot of additioal studying on my own Iam scheduled to take my exam on the 24th of this month but my teacher seems to think that I should wait until I take the server class at college before I take Win Pro exam I don't agree but if anyone would like to give me an opinion or some advice to help me further prepare for the next week and a half I would be very very greatful | |

| Welcome to the forum.
Well, it defintely not a necessity but there is alot of overlap between the two exams. Some people actually do prefer to study for both the 210 and 215 exams before taking one or the other.
I myself, didn't have any issues studying for 210 and then taking the exam without studying for server at the same time, but as I said before, there is a bit of overlap. Also, I had a good deal of experience with both W2K Pro and Server while preparing for the exams so I didn't see the need to study both Pro and Server before taking the 210.
The decision ultimatley comes down to your comfort level.
Best of luck in your studies and let us know how you made out.

| Do you recommend any particular practice questions sites etc. I have the Microsoft readiness kit from microsoft press that has a training cd and also a practice exam cd for practing the questions, like I said I have been through every page of the Win 2000 Pro text book thoroughly and I have been doing all the hands on practicing as well. I just really need to take this thing and I am willing to do whatever I need to, to learn this stuff, thoroughly, not just making it a paper cert. You see by the time I am done at school I will have been through every class to take all the neccessary exams for the MCSE and thats what my intentions are so I want to hit these things hard and complete the exams while it is all still fresh in my mind Again thank you very much for your quick response | |

| The benefit of waiting to take the course on 215 is that any overlapping concepts are reinforced. Lot of interaction between the client and server products, lot of commonality.
I took the tests in the followint order:
210
215
218
217
216
219
224
In each case I waited to take each exam until I had covered a significant amount of material in the next course. This was based on the recommendation of my instructor also.
I also used transcender, they were included in my course, as well as reading other books, and doing a lot of home lab exercises.
Good Luck | |

| I did the 210 and 215 side by side, in fact took the 210 one day and the next took 215.
Good luck with what ever you choose

| I got my MCSE in 2000. Things might be different now, but I think 215 is easier than 210. I would take 215 first, then 210, 218, 217, 216. | |
|
| I personally do not think that the 210 is easier than the 215, or that the opposite is true. I think that getting into the MCSE track, some of us have more server experience, or more desktop experience, and that therefore are better equipped to take one or the other test. I took both on the same day, one after the other, and I thought they were both about 70% the same test... | |
