I would call your ISP. Sounds like it might be a sync problem if you have to keep restarting the DSL "modem". However you said you have a D-link router. Is that yours or did your ISP give that to you with the service?

With xDSL they need to give you some sort of a xDSL device to talk to their network. Mine is a Zytel ADSL Bridge. Yours might be something different. Now a router is something you buy for small a home network to share your connection.

Hey ruscorp can you recommend any testing centers in NY? I will be taking my 210 when I am down there next week.

Mine used to rock. It was in a nice area and did both Prometric and VUE. It was right across the street from the Empire State Building and Macy's.

Now it's moved near MSG and only does VUE and the faculty has got a lot smaller:

MBI
1333 Broadway, Suite 1028
New York, New York 10018
Phone: 212-563-6241

You could also try my school which is now a Prometric center:

THE CHUBB INSTITUTE
498 7TH AVENUE, 17th Floor
NEW YORK, NEW YORK 10018
Phone: 212-659-2132
Site Code: NY133

Well looks like a no go on either of those. According to vue MBI isn't open on the 29th or 30th.

THE CHUBB INSTITUTE is out because my voucher is for vue only.

I did see a couple others in Manhatan CompUSA was one and a company called Career Center.

Damn, MBI has went downhill. It used to be so much nicer (even though you can't understand the staff because they are Korean.)

Chubb was nice because I like to torture the new students at the new campaus and show them how to get around everything the school does.

The strange is down here seems each time I go to take an exam the place I went to last time isn't doing it anymore.

The place I took both A+ exams wasn't there when I went to take Network+ and now that place isn't available for the 210.

Its actually more convient for me to take it while I'm down in NY next week.

sounds like something from the

Does your router support PPOE. You said 10 computers? Wow all sharing DSL line! See if there is a firmware upgrade for your router sometimes this fixes dsl problems.

Sorry see you have cable. I would still recommend the firmware upgrade.

10 computers sharing dsl isn't a big deal. I got a network of 20 computers and growing sharing DSL never had any big problems.

You might want to look at DHCP. You have your router and your server running DHCP. Disable DHCP on your router and see if that solves your problem.

First, is the problem on your side or the Telco sid of the DSL link, is the DSL link the problem?
You should try to see if you can ping the Telco's equip from the router whilst you are down.
Depending on the DSL setup it may be the default gateway (if the DSL router is bridged) or the next hop up, try using trace route.
If you can ping the next hop, try further up.
For example if you can ping www.yahoo.com from the network router but not from the desktop then it's a network problem.
Often with intermitent DSL probs the link to the telco is going up and down, pinging the telco side (try using large packets) is the best way to see if the prob is on your side of the DSL or the other side.
You can also try pinging the DNS servers.

it seems problem connections.which means ISP.now it works fine.Alos computers get DHCP from the server not router.

thats another reason i think.

thanks all
