NetMeeting Remote Desktop Sharing
|
|
|
| I have a windows 2000 network with about 200 clients. Alot of the computers are in hard to reach places. I wish to use Remote desktop Sharing acroos the LAN. I have installed it on a couple of machines and it works fine.
On the client machines there is 2 entries in the Administrators group; the Domain Admin and the Local Admin account.
I cannot get rid of the local admin account as its against company policy. The local Admin account is not very secure on individual PC's however the network is very secure.
My problem is that it is possible to make a connection to a remote desktop by using the insecure local admin account. Is there a way to block a connection attempted by local admin, and to only allow connections by the Domain admin group?
Many thanks in advance | |

| I think that you have a couple of options here
1- Rename the local Admin account to a unique name and change the password, this is a recommended procedure on any n/w as it makes attempts at remote/unauthorized access a lot more difficult.
2- Disable the local admin account.
Option 1 is probably safer as you will retain control over the account. | |

| It looks like the only way to do it is to make the local admin account more secure as you suggested.

| I would go for otion number one.
Better not disabled the local admin accoutn, you never know: somedbody could enable it.
I think a very complicated psw would be enough.
Just my two cents |
