June already, where does the time go? Onward with another week of questions.

A straight forward offline files question for you today.

A hot secretary named Amber needs to configure her Windows 2000 Professional portable computer to redirect her My Documents folder to her home folder on the network. Lucky you.

You need to make sure that she can access all of her files in her My Documents folder when she is not connected to the network.

What do you need to do to save the day and win Amber's affection? (Choose two from the following)

A. Use Windows Explorer to enable offline files.

B. Use Windows Explorer to create a shortcut on her desktop to access the offline files folder.

C. Use Windows Explorer to configure the properties of Amber's home folder on the network to be available offline.

D. Use the Synchronization Manager to configure Amber's home folder on the network to be available for offline use.

E. Create a shortcut in her "My Network Places" to access her home folder on the network.

Good luck and see you tomorrow for the answer!!

NO you probably saw something similar but not quite the same, I had some on both exams but they also had an extra element, ie the guy had a laptop and wanted to synchronise certain files only coz the others were large files etc, etc.

Well I don't appreciate what you are incinuating ghaouf. The questions may be similar, but not exact. So don't say it is unless your sure about it.

There are many questions for the 210 exam I've encountered using Transcenders, Exam Essentials, and Exam Cram, to name a few that were very similar to what I saw sometimes on a test. When I use those resources for the QoD's I try to reword them, and even change them up some.

Seeing that you've passed 3 exams in 3 weeks, with not a whole lot of experience under your belt, maybe you could clue me in on the resources you've used, and I can pull some questions from those prep engines to use here.

And no kinding it's the same idea. Laptop users on the network are typically the ones that would have a need for offline files, and you need to do 2 steps to make folders/files available for offline use.

Well the answers I was looking for were A and C.

The question was getting at what you need to do to make her home folder available offline. You need to do "A", no question about that. In Explorer, Tools | Folder Options | Offline Files tab, then click the Enable Offline files checkbox.

"D" seemed to be a popular choice but Synchronization Manager is used to manage the synchronization aspect of offline files and folders. It is not used to configure folders to be available for offline use.

So I guess my question is, if you do "A" and then do "D" when did you select her home folder to make it available offline? You need to select her home folder next, (right click on it and select "Make Available Offline.") This would make it available for offline use, and so an initial synchronization of the folder. So "C" accomplishes that.

"A" enables offline files, "C" would be used to select her home folder.

Maybe the question wasn't worded in the best way, I don't know. I'm just curious as to why most selected "D" as one of the answers, maybe I'm missing something.
