Hi

I have one win2k server box one win2k pro box and one winxp box. The win2k server box is the 120 day study version on server the rest are paid for OS.

As of now I have them set up as a workgroup but would like to set them up as a domain just for study. Do I have to have a real domain name ie david.com to be able to do this? Could someone point me to information on how to set this up? Did a google search and did not turn up much.

Thanks

no you do not need to se dave.com or any thing
you just have to make an active directory then make a DNS then you have to set the usernames and passwords
not hard the wizard will guide you with every thing

before installation of AD, remember to add Service pack3, IE 6 sp1, critical updates and other pacthes (use windows update).

check TCP IP settings and run dcpromo after check NTFS v5 checking on the installation partition.

after installation and restart, only check SRV on the DNS, configure reverse lookup zone and everything will be OK 100% a pro functional domain.
