| Hello All,
I currently have my A+ and Network+. I used many brain dumps and free on-line test sites to study for these tests. I've noticed that between 40% - 75% of the questions are almost word-for-word from these study sites. Do the MCSE tests follow a similar suit? I would go to these sites and pound this stuff into my head till it hurt, then do it all over again. It works for me.

Don't use braindumps. Besides, a lot of them have some wrong answers.

Maybe so, but do you actually know anything, or just have the ability to regurgitate answers to memorized questions. Passing an exam is easy when you know what questions are going to be asked of you.
Too bad paper certified people as yourself can't figure out implementation solutions to problems you encounter in the field. "Oh no this problem doesn't fit nicely into an A,B,C or D solution, I don't know what to do. Whaaaaaa!"
I love "teching" people as yourself during an interview process, give me a good laugh for the day.
You just keep "dumpin'" your way through those exams, makes my job more secure, not that I have anything to worry about.
Even though there are links on this site to questionable resources, the members of these forums are very anti-braindump and I don't tolerate it very much in this forum.
To answer you original question, sure the braindump crap is out there, it's an unfortunate part of the certification game. Why not get a good book, setup a test lab and actually work with and learn the product you are going to be supporting in the workplace? What an original idea.

| Couldn't have said it better myself Mr. spid! | |

| Right on Spid!!!! | |

| Thanks guys! I'm usually a little more reserved, and thought maybe my reply was a little harsh, I'm a tad bit crabby today. That post struck a nerve and ticked me off. But your replies made me realize that I did do the right thing. Thanks. | |

| SPID,
I thought this forum was to enilghten, not malousously attack! WOW! You trash my study tactics, yet know nothing about me. I have learned more at my job (supporting an Enterprise sized network) than any freakin' brain dump. If i didn't have my certs , I wouldn't have the job to get the experience. Unfortunately, SPID, this is the real world. I don't know what universe you work in, but the "all-mighty" attitude will only hurt you. I've worked with techs that have 10x the knowledge you do and as much common sense as a sack of potatoes. You can "Tech" me till your brain swells, if it will boost your ego. If you wanted to get my attention, YOU GOT IT!

Just in case you've forgotten your original 1st post....
"I used many brain dumps and free on-line test sites to study for these tests. I've noticed that between 40% - 75% of the questions are almost word-for-word from these study sites. Now let me get this straight. You are upset because I rattled your cage about a flat out admission of using braindumps to pass your certification exams. Right....
And I should be worried about getting your attention because why??? I'm kind of missing that one.
I don't know you, (true statement there), you cry victim of a malicious attack because I call you out on your "study" habits, then you state that you know techs who know 10 times as much as I do (maybe true, but highly doubtful, and I won't lose any sleep over it regardless), but you don't know me either so I'm trying to figure out how you came up with 10 times as much. Basically, your comment doesn't really amount to much.
DAPUNISHER, (see how I put your UserID in all caps like you did to mine - neat). I can only go on what you post (which was your first post ever on this forum btw) and it states quite clearly that you have used braindumps. Sounds like memorization and regurgitation of known exam questions to me (and others). Short definition - paper cert. Sorry, that's the (as you like to call it) "real world" definition and why the perceived value of certs is so low nowadays.
I do not have all the answers and will be the first one to admit that, the field is too vast, but I've worked in I.T. for 20 years and currently am a Systems/Network Admin managing the efforts of 7 techs at a regional site supporting over 2,700 users for the largest credit card company in America (Enterprise wide counting America, Canada, England, Ireland and Spain - about 30,000 users). I also do consulting work for 2 other companies. Not that you really care about that but Please do not preach to me about common sense and the real world. I've be living/working it for quite a few years now.
You want to be "enlightened" by sharing knowledge with respect to the MS exams, and other technical subjects/discussions/etc... that's great and that is what we are here for. I've been a member of this forum for almost 3 years voluntarily because I enjoy helping others. This is a great forum with an unbelievable wealth of knowledgable people who are willing to share that with you and me both. But if you want to ask questions as to whether "braindumps" for MS exams are any good, and admit you have used them, you'll get flamed - period.
And these superior techs that know so much more than I think your study habit of using braindumps is good right? Right.....
But then again, what do I know, I'm just a Sys/Network Admin
Holding my breath in anticipation of your reply

Let me just add that what you said about experience is great, I mean that sincerely. I'm glad that you have learned a great deal by hands-on, it's the best way to learn. So why do you use dumps to prepare for exams, they are not needed.
Also about my ego. Please, I have no ego. If you want to call my having confidence in my abilites to leverage technology to provide solutions to the business units to make them more effective/efficient in performing their function and be able to research out, plan and implement said solutions as to not negatively impact those business areas (due diligence would be a good phrase for that practice), then yes I guess I have an ego. If you want to call my ability to pass 12 Microsoft exams the first time without ever using a blasted braindump to study a swelled head ego, I guess your right again. If weeding out paper cert candidates who come in and have trouble handling a simple subnetting question or botch up drawing out a hypothetical ethernet layout during a "tech" interview an ego, well I guess your right yet again.
Ego to you. Having confidence in my abilities and performing my job to the best of those abilities is more like it.

Listen,
It seems we got off on a bad start here. I posted on this site to ask questions and learn, not get ridiculed. Its very obvious how adiment you are against brain dumps. No question there. For me its not about memorizing questions, its more learning from scenarios and situations that I have not yet encountered. Your experience is vast, and you should be confident; not arrogant. When you think you know it all is when you prove you know nothing! You do have knowledge my friend, but lack the wisdom to use it. Especially in this situation where you pick on the less experienced. Tact my friend, Tact. I'm guessing its just your way of job security. Oh...what a shame it would be for some paper cert like myself to come along and steal your job. Of course you are so above me that that couldn't possibly happen. (note the scarcasm) People like me would work twice the hours for half the salary you get. Then again, if you are the same on this board as you are at your job, GOD help them! I suggest anger management counciling. And if you don't like A,B,C scenerios - stop posting daily questions. My "paper" certs are worh their weight in platinum! The helped me get the job I have now to get the valuable experience. By the way, I work in Server/Systems Management for a multi-billion dollar company that has a 100th aniversary comming up soon here in Milwaukee. Varooom! Varooom! And you know what? That makes me no better than anyone else on this earth. Sitting in your cubicle you are arrogant and mighty - a legend in your own mind! Anyways, I've wasted my time and yours long enough. I'm going to enjoy the rest of my evening. Thanks for the entertainment. 20 years, eh? Time to retire, pops.

Thanks for the laugh. The majority of your worthless ramblings are not worth the effort/energy to respond too but I'll entertain you further.
I slam you for questionable/dumping study habits and you continue to make dark incinuations about my character that you nothing about. You are pathetic. I pick on people that know "less" than me?!?! Then why am I here helping others in their quest for certification Einstein?
Bottom line - Either contribute to this forum, or leave. I care not whether you stay or go.
The QoD's are posted because it was requested by the members. It has nothing to do with disliking A,B,C or D answers. Of course if you took the time to actually read and comprehend what I was saying (which might be a little difficult for someone as yourself), your comment about QoD's makes no sense.
I don't sit in a cube. I've got an office. Do you have office door envy now
Seeing that this post contributes nothing to the forum, as your original post about braindumps (remember that post?) did, I get to throw my weight around in this forum and lock this thread.
I love when people attempt to justify their use of dumps. They can't, and then they attack members that call them out on it. Too funny.
(Pops? Yep I'm a Dad with a beautiful wife and 2 kids). If your info is accurate, you're only 5 years behind me ('66-'71). Don't be too quick to throw out age comments.
FYI - any additional smarta** comments/posts will be deleted.
Again, either contribute to this forum or leave.
Have a great day! |
