| Hi folks
Just wondering if the differences between Windows XP pro and windows 2000 pro are big enough to warrant buying both os's. I have xp pro and I am studying for mcse on windows 2000.

| if you have no other way of using 2000 then you might be able to get an eval version with a study book.
try and find someone that uses 2000 and play with that occaisionally to find out the differences.

| visit www.microsoft.com/uk and you will find a link somewhere to free eval software if you have books that do not contain the same | |

| So far, the only real differences I have seen between the 2 OS' is: XP has little or no ActiveX controls. Some things are moved around on XP, and adding User's and such are different. Editing User's is in Computer Managment. XP has a built-in Internet Firewall, and you have to know how to work around that if you want it enabled and still be able to do the printer/file sharing. XP you have to install netbeui from the CD because it is being phased out. However, the good thing about XP is the ease of simply enabling Remote Access on an end users machine, and picking who you want to have remote access to the machine. I don't know if this answers your question but there are some very noticeable differences between the OS'. As for the exams... I'll have to find that one out too... |
