exam question from my exam cram book
|
|
|
| The book only mentions the answers without explanation, and my answers are wrong and would like to understand why. This is one of the question i am talking about:
question is from exam cram book i bought!!
same goes for this question:
71. You administer a domain (treesearch.com) which is a mix of Windows 2000 Servers, Windows 2000 Professional computers, and Windows 98 computers. You want to upgrade all Windows 98 computers to Windows 2000 Professional. Each computer is PXE compliant. You must accomplish the following goals:
• Unattended installation of Windows 2000 Professional.
• Unattended installation of the company’s sales tracking application.
• Each computer will be assigned a unique security identity description.
• The unattended installation will automatically join each computer to the treesearch.com domain.
You take the following actions:
• Install Windows 2000 Professional on a Windows 98 computer named COMPUTER1.
• Install the sales tracking application on COMPUTER1.
• Use Setup Manager on COMPUTER1 to create an unattend.txt file based on the current configuration (including domain membership).
• Start the remaining Windows 98 computers an install Windows 2000 professional using the unattend.txt file you have created.
Which of the following are accomplished?
a. Unattended installation of Windows 2000 Professional.
b. Unattended installation of the company’s sales tracking application.
c. Each computer will be assigned a unique security identity description.
d. The unattended installation will automatically join each computer to the treesearch.com domain.
I chose only a here???? | |

Have you ever used the Setup Manager? If not I'd suggest that you practice running through it.
All Setup Mananger does is create an answer file to automate the installation questions you encounter when installing Windows 2000. So whether the answers to questions during setup are automated or not, the PC will still have a unique security ID. Secondly, you can setup the answer file to join the PC to the domain, because that is one of the questions you would run into during a normal setup process. So really the only thing the answer file will not accomplish is an unattended setup of the company's sales tracking app. That's where a utility like Sysprep could be used if the conditions are met.
I hope that helps. I use these utilites all the time, so it definitely helps to practice using them. Good luck on your test!
|
| Hi, first thanks for the reply !!
I understand why it should be a and c. b was only possible if the actions taken would mention sysprep, but it didn't so answer b isn't good.
But i think answer d isn't good either. Shouldn't there be a udf file in order to join every single computer to the domain??
I thought a c are the correct answers...
Let me know will ya !
Thanks,

| You only need a UDF file to change parameters that need to be different from computer to computer such as Computer name, User name etc. If every computer will be joining the same domain then the Unattend.txt file is sufficient. | |

Pretty much what I was going to say.
|
| ok, so i don't need the udf, because the computers are being upgraded from win98 to win2k pro. This means computer names and user names are all there. Am i right?
To continu on the story above, if the question mentioned a clean install of win2kpro i would have needed the udf file right? so then answer d wouldn't be correct?

It doesn't matter whether it's a clean install or an upgrade. Answer d is still correct as long as all PCs using the answer file are joining the same domain.
When you create the answer file, you can either use a UDF to import computer names, or you can have them generated based on the organization name you specify in the answer file. Also, if you are using the answer file to join a domain, you have the option to enter the username & password with the permissions to create the computer account on the domain.
Hope that helps clear things up.
|
| Sort of !!
the reason i am confused is because of the following:
Last week i purchased test king q&a in order to prepare myself for the upcoming 70-210 exam.
Now i was doing some questions from the testking and found a similar question but different in a few aspects. I will only mention the differences.
The question says (differs from the question i earlier posted)
You want to perform clean installation of windows 2000 professional on all of the windows 98 computers.
Accomplish the following goals (only the last goal is kinda different):
The unnattended installation script will be modified so that the computers automatically join the contoso.com domain
you take the following actions:
these remain the same
Now all the answers i can pick from are the same except from the last one:
it says
d. The unnattended installation script will be modified so that the computers automatically join the contoso.com domain
According to testking only answers a and c are correct.
Incorrect answers;
b.
and
d. the computer will not automatically join the contoso.com domain. You need the prestage computers accounts and to use UDF for the computer names
That was their question. Now you can understand why i am a little confused. Is their answer correct and are there big differences in the two questions, or did testking make a mistake??

| Test king is incorrect. I used to be on another forum that sold test king's crap. There were about 10 posts every day pointing out wrong answers and explanations from test king.
They literally copy questions and answers from the forums and turn around and sell them without checking the answers.

curiousgeorge is right. Test King is a bunch of crap. Nothing but a lousy braindump site that makes money selling stolen questions that don't even contain the right answers half the time. Besides, you can answer your own question by simply running through the Setup Manager.

| I think testking is alright, I have used it many times to help with my exams. | |
|
| "The unnattended installation script will be modified so that the computers automatically join the contoso.com domain"
ok guys thanks for all the replies.
But still when i read the above sentence, it says the answer file will be modified. A udf file modifies a answer file right?? I thought it was correct because of those 3 words, will be modified..
but anyways it doesn't really matter. I passed my first exam today 70-210.
I used newriders mspress transcender and testking.
I read alot of bad things about test king, but i must say it helped me alot, not only the q&a cause that was just to test myself, but the test king guide as well.
I used www.testking.com to order the q&a. I've noticed that www.test-king.com exists as well, it seems like the same website but still different. It looks to me that www.test-king.com is fake.
Anyways if alot of folks from examnotes are against test-king why am i receiving an email from examnotes with an offer from test-king.
It's still a little confusing, but you should check both www.testking.com and www.test-king.com , i think the second one is fake for sure
